Title: Bring Back 'Delete Post'!
Post by Magnus on 02/11/04 at 21:31:46
Bring back the delete post option! it makes posts cleaner and uses less space!
the only reason i can think of that it was removed is so people can't add a post to bump the page then delete it and the page is still bumped... but that sounds alot cleaner than having a million bump posts all over the trading section and what if you decide not to sell or just thought your post over and decided you didn't want to add what you said after all.
And to prevent the Re: SubjectHere, maybe if the player that created the post deleted the very top one it would delete every thing within the post which would solve the Re: problem.
/shrug.. this could just be me .. comment please.
(btw, im not sure if this is the right forum topic for this post..)

I, personally, want that "Delete Post" option for the RolePlay forum. I think it's kind of obvious why a Role Play forum would want one.

I do believe the 'delete post' option should be brought back.

Bad example since you could have just modified. XD

It's when other people post after you that you'll want to delete your first post and then re-post it.

I think there are enough good reasons to keep it to where people cannot delete their posts to leave it the way it is.

I still think we should bring it back.  I tried this right after it when into effect, here is why JLH said (almost exact quote)
"If you wouldn't post rubbish in the first place, there would be no need to delete post."

well then again if you were (ex.=)wrong about something and found out 15 minutes, later you still couldn't freaking fix it because of that ridiculous 15 minute rule and you couldn't delete it either because you can't!... both of the options should be back in the forum >:(

EDIT: you get 12 hours not 15 minutes but still.. smurf the 12 hour rule too!!!  ;)

Also JLH changed it cus someone bumped an old thread, then deleted their post (so no one knew who bumped it), which caused yet anouther arguement over the forum. Think that ticked JLH off a bit (I think I remember that case right..).

that can be solved above... if the creator of the post wanted it gone he could delete it and the whole contents inside of that post would be deleted. ( no more Re: )

I always wondered why that wasn't what happened. Would make more sense.

Ya, the whole bumping up really old posts and starting nuts up over again was pretty stupid and annoying...now people cannot do it.  People can't post on something offering an ammount and then delete posts so that the person selling doesnt know they offered...like-
someone is bidding with another person, they keep outbidding one another, they talk in game and decide one of them gets it, they're friends so the one who didn't get it deletes all posts, the one who did deletes all but bid that'll get crit...the person selling gets screwed kind of...if they're bidding back and forth then it'll leave a trail of edits that either say nothing or some rubbish atleast.

The whole deleting the top/first post thing which would delete all contents in the post/the post itself would take care of the bumping up of old posts and as for the bidding situation... if they couldn't delete the posts they would just put . or some space wasting bullsmurf in the bids place... I would much rather see nothing than two pages of jibberish, wouldn't you?

'Delete post' function validates hypocrisy

So does the modify option, what's your point?  That's not the reason it should not be brought back and I'm pretty sure thats not the reason it was taken away...

Modify option cannot be take effect after 12 hours. This  leaves ample time to toss around personal reason and weighting, yet still avoiding modification due to pressure of the majority, thus sits your desired point. I never said that's why it was taken away.

You're confusing the hell out of me with that talk.. if you want to rephrase that in simpler terms maybe I can understand what your point is...
