Title: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Tazmanian on 02/09/04 at 21:42:44 I dont know if this has been introduced as a topic before but, here it goes, i think there should be a "hardcore" version of this game, as in if you die once, your done... or along the lines of you have 3 lifes to keep yourself alive. Much like the game Diablo2 has a hardcore mode, i feel it makes the game tons better because its much more challenging, :-D tanks for reading this message, late. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Mip on 02/09/04 at 21:54:01 Sounds like it could work... ...You know, if some people's sole purpose in Nightmist wasn't just PK'ing. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Mip on 02/09/04 at 22:10:58 Umm...sorry for your loss? ^^;; Anyways, think of how hard it would be for people around level 20. I think these people get picked on the most. Look at the range of people who are allowed to hurt them. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Tazmanian on 02/10/04 at 00:55:38 hmm, the thing is... the first person to make it to high level is the best off, and most people wouldnt risk it... |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Vengence on 02/10/04 at 01:48:00 this would make the game way to hard. I don't know anyone with 3 or less deaths by players under lvl 20. And what if someone that payed 100 bucks for a custom pic? they get pked 3 times and boom..there went 100 bucks. |

It's cus you're that cool ;) Anyway, I liked the idea, with afew modifications. Otherwise the rich would risk PKing, and the poor would end up having everything killed. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Silverwizard on 02/10/04 at 16:00:36 Yes Yes Yes you start a new char and you die because you do not have the power to survive on a long time basis but instead a short time basis that involves nessecary healing or death etc where death is normal in NM and then when you die once you lose the crit what is the point in starting even with the guys idea. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Tazmanian on 02/10/04 at 17:09:33 ...Silverwizard, there is a reason its called hardcore... because its HARD and you can go thru the game without dieing, just use a cleric and dont fight big stuff untill your ready, besides makin a cleric is real easy... lol. I like the idea a lot, and i think it should happen, but it probably wont, not enough people are supporting it, and jlh probably doesnt want to do the work to get the hardcore version up and running. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by dognapot on 02/10/04 at 17:18:36 just a few reminders... noob crits suck, and aren't worth saving anyways you should be able to get 1ups everyone would be effected (not just you), that means travelling and training will change along with pking. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Silverwizard on 02/10/04 at 17:23:47 Ah yes Dognapot we used to have such dances of words before. Anyway what I was saying is that people have to start with a n00b char or else they cannot play and this would kill nightmist as a game as people lose their chars and no one comes. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Tazmanian on 02/10/04 at 23:07:27 and if they quit, they werent real gamers in the first place, this isnt for the b**ches of nightmist kid... if they quit they can go back to orig nightmist, *sorry for my language im a bit... ya, you know. till next post, your friend, Taz AWHATIOAOSAJLSAGJOQA |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Silverwizard on 02/11/04 at 03:13:15 I would not play it because I simply would not have the time to lvl a char for a couple a days make a minor error lose it try again etc just too much time taken up lvling weaklings when the fun is lvl 20+. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by dognapot on 02/11/04 at 03:43:54 don't you think that the way people play would change just a wee bit? think about it... you can't lvl early on by hitting the snake south of nightmist and dying over and over again. you have to have help. you either make friends and train with them stay around in the arena. it's not a bad thing, it just makes it harder for you to be loner. that's pretty much how things are now, if it can be done alone, it is. that's really one of the larger reasons that i believe makes pking is so rampant. you don't need alliances really. you have your clan but even then you can pick out a few people who you would still pk if it were acceptable. it's not because everyone's such jerks, but mainly because you don't need them and it's more entertaining to kill people. however, when you need to, you do make friends. if you're training a far ways away from home and don't want any trouble, you make an alliance with the other people there who are likeminded and anyone who doesn't agree with you guys becomes the problem then. it's because you have something to lose that you make peace. i did it alot in training my thieves; it was sort of high stakes and no one wanted to lose what they had, so it was easy to come to a truce. you see, while you're thinking that you'll simply lose, you're forgetting that people behave differently when they have something to lose. now maybe you haven't ever seen anyone in nightmist with anything to lose. it's totally possible, you have unlimited life, money, exp, and time. so it's hard to find someone behaving like thier actions have consequence, but if you ever do see that happen, maybe you'll think about things differently. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Silverwizard on 02/11/04 at 04:02:14 Yes well you do have soemthing to lose and that would be money and exp, chars in nightmist are not designed not to die. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Pandilex on 02/11/04 at 04:12:08 I once played a MUD where if you died you lost an entire level! Bwhahhahaa..... |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by dognapot on 02/11/04 at 04:14:44 what a big difference that makes. by the time you make back the experience you lost you usually have more money than you had on you when you lost it. hell, if you had a covert purse, you just died for a profit. i fail to see the point. |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by Tazmanian on 02/11/04 at 15:55:33 This is a suggestion to the elite of nightmist, not the lil kids like silverwizard who are scared of dieing... sorry, there should be an elite player posting place, :-P. This is a great idea i think, start voting Yes or No for this idea, no reasons why it'd be good or bad anymore, we just need to let jlh know that this is what we want, customer is always right you know :-D |

Title: Re: Hardcore version of nightmist, Post by dognapot on 02/11/04 at 21:39:43 it's not what most people want though. most people are afraid of losing a little bit of what they have. this isn't something i could foresee a vote helping, but if our benevolent game-makers were to ever see how it would be beneficial then it would be imposed. i really feel quite confident that my prediction of increased teamwork and less pking is an accurate one, but it all boils down to whether jlh or pan would want to rock the boat or not. |
