Title: Theft Solution Post by DemonSkys on 01/08/04 at 00:45:13 We can go rounds and rounds on this. The We don't care policy really doesn't help. This game is to be Against theft. Then lets do something very simple to fix it. by ignoring the problem. You don't make it go away you just make the number of thieves multiply because yes they can get away with it. If a person is foolish to get key logged or give thier password. Simply put. if they memo/email something of "I know the person whomever took my crits. They were stolen. in all honesty I think I was key logged etc. point is . my crits were stolen." simple solution. No one benefits from. If the owner says crits stolen. the crits stolen should be banned and deleted. this way. the owner learns. and the thief doesn't benefit and learns hey.. this isn't going to work if I do this.. all I got outta this is nothing. |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by Creed on 01/08/04 at 00:48:42 That's actually not a bad idea to tell you the truth.. It's alot better then ignoring it and letting them get away, but yes of course you learn.. But does the other learn? |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by DemonSkys on 01/08/04 at 00:54:14 Either way.. they learn not to be so trusting. and learn that they need to be more careful |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by JLH on 01/08/04 at 00:56:40 it would all have to be checked and proved in the logs, which is something i'm not prepared to do. |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by Everlast on 01/08/04 at 01:01:06 The fact you share means you trust the person with your stuff in Nightmist. If you get ripped then it is your fault for sharing, not Nightmist's and not the staff or admins. Deleting stuff solves nothing. They've said time and time again that they don't support sharing and getting ripped off by it is your own fault. They will not help. Keyloggers are rare as far as ive seen. I think admins have helped with them in the past, but of the staff ive talked to no one has come to them with actually being hacked for their nm acct. I've shared. Shared with Chase for a long time, my IRL friend at the time. We stopped sharing when we stopped being friends IRL. During that time we shared with Newb, who gave us most of the high lvls we had at the time. (that was before we shared, we shared with him so he could play again) Even after sharing with both of them and having had some bad things happen, I now share with Ryan. He went funny style and got us acct. banned for around 20 days. I thought it was way too funny to bother caring we coulndt play nm...i was quitting at the time anyway ::) I really think that sharing means you trust the person enough to where if they ripped you off you should want to quit NM rather than complaining so much. If someone is trusted by you enough to give them your password, they had better be good enough friend to you that you would rather lose all of your NM stuff by sharing with them than not share with them. I've always just found it more fun when sharing. Game just gets boring i guess. I dont particurally care for any critisim about anything i say on this topic, peace. -Gaddy |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by Aidon on 01/08/04 at 01:01:31 Or else someone could just say, well Demonskys stole these 3 crits from me and ur banned. Sadly you cannot take players words about stealing, because alot of them will tell you anything if they have the chance of getting someone they dont like into trouble. |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by DemonSkys on 01/08/04 at 01:08:12 it has nothing to do with banning a player it would simply make that the crits taken could not be used to benefit anyone.. not the owner.. not the "thief".. it would be removed.. |

That's being done now anyway, they just tell the account pass, then when the crits get stolen or deleted, JLH bans the person that got the account, and gives the original person thier stuff back. I know from exp. Note: I'm not complaining about my ban. I should be more carefull about who I trust when accepting things, and about who I let on my computer. |

Title: Re: Theft Solution Post by Morph on 01/08/04 at 10:17:18 I don't get this whole theft thing. I've been playing for like a year and a half and never got anything stolen, not even in trades. If you get stolen from, you're prolly just stupid and deserved it... |
