Title: Thief Armor
Post by Nemesis on 01/04/04 at 17:24:04
Ok, i know ive mentioned this before, n i got flamed even by staff, saying that a thief running round with pauldrons or spaulders would be like putting cymbols on their feet n windchimes hanging off them. but at last i found an image of the type of item im on about

http://www.maspien.com/spaulders5(RUSS).gif

the shoulder protection there is the type of thing im on bout, tight to the skin, and still protects.

in case anyone reading this dont know what im on about, i was suggesting an armor idea instead of steel bracers for high level thieves.

i could go with that for like 2 armor

its just that near nuff every other class gets some good 'shield' or equivalent. n the fact thieves cant get nothing except Steel Bracers from level 5, all the up to arch. 5 armor isnt enuff.

n i mean somit like this, with bout 10-12 armor, for like lvl 28+ thieves would be good.

any way. i best let the idea be flamed as im sure someone is thinking of doing. n wut do ya mean 2 armor jurian?

i got flamed last time, lol. cuz ppl said theives would look wrong walking round wiv big bulky pauldrons/spaulders. yet in that picture from a renaisance scene, its got the exact style of armor im looking for.

another thing i got flamed for was you cudnt use bracers, if your wearing gauntlets (spider gauntlets for eg), so i thought bout armor further up yer arm

well at least i got one person to like the idea. just need more, n the staffies to like =)

Those are made out of metal, whenever they move they grind making a noise. So still, it'd be loud for thieves.

they're leather, really tough, so no clanking, and held with studs...all u gotta do it drop a few small studs/spikes on it, u sorted ;)

When you say thieves should get more armor, thieves shouldn't get more armor.  They were designed be less protected than fighters etc.  Show me some examples of a "thief" using item.  Take into consideration that your average thieves aren't wearing suit armor and maybe something like this item would seem arkward when worn.

/t Stotic did ya looky at the image? it aint something of a suit of armor. its the general name of 'any' form of armor protecting your shoulder/upper arm. In the image it doesnt look awkward to wear

also when i say more armor, i mean max of 10 or so in this armor. cuz the 'best' item a thief can wear in their shield slot, is something you equip at lvl 5. whilst every other class (xcludin zerks of course) get numerous diff ones thru their higher levels. im just simply trying to say i'd like, if possible for an item to be created, that just offers 10 armor instead of 5 for a thieves shield slot.

Thieves also wear something that clings close to them, nothing that makes an abstraction to make things noticeable.

/t Issy look at the link in my first post

its v. close to the arm, or tight, not big, flashy and somit that will make a noise.

if ppl will understand that point of this post, we can continue into idea's etc, n possibly get it created.

I agree with Stotic, thieves shouldn't wear anything like this.. But then, Nightmists thieves aren't really thieves :P As it's been said, they'd be better named assassins. So I say add the armor

The idea Stotic was trying to get across is, thieves don't deserve any extra armor. When you choose to make a thief, you sacrifice the ability of attaining a high ac for being able to covert. It's how the class was meant to be balanced.

still, at the min my thief got 60 armor...my fighter has 85. whats wrong with the thief having 65 armor instead?

thats example

*wonders how 'arkward' or 'noisy' a "feather shield" whould be*

Rangers have a good shield. I think that is enough to be said about this.

At renasance fairs i play a roman Archer. they wore armor and the sheild they used was specaily made so that it clasps at wrist and forearm it is the same size as a regular sheild but did not require the hand. The thing he is showing is actually a thieves a armor. It was designed to give quiet mobitity to a kings assasin and thieves used it in midevil times because it was light and gave a great amount of protection to the upper body.

I agree put it in but dont give it to high an armor rating.

Thanks Lich. n btw, the original image i got is taken from a firm who creates the equip used in renaisance. im trying to order a pair of the gauntlets from it =D

but yeh, i did say it was thiefy armor. n 10 base seems fair for a lvl 28+ thief.
