Title: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Everlast on 01/03/04 at 12:51:43 Ok, i think randy posted something like this a while back. I cannot remember what the response was. Intel is probably the least needed stat in game. Mage only if i remember correctly. I do not think that any stat should be quite so in-active in so many races and classes. I am suggesting that for each intel a crit has over 9 it gets an extra point of exp per damage dealt. Each point under 9 would be -1 xpd. Or have it be level effected. Higher lvl some how making the experience gained become more helpful to them with int. Something like if you have 19 intel, 1 increased at lvl 1, 2 at lvl 3, and so on skiping a lvl before each intel is used to increase learning rate. I dont know quite how to explain what i mean at the time seeing as it is very late, and i need to go to sleep. Reason for this being- If a crit is more intelligent it ought to learn more quickly and remember what it learns better. This would make gnomes and elves be used more possibly, and mages less difficult to lvl. It would also take a stat that is entirly un-used in all classes other than mages (to my knowledge) and cause it to be a very helpful stat. I could see this idea being shot down, flamed, or simply un-accepted by staff for many reasons. I suggest it simply because i do not understand why int has no change on a characters ability to learn and understand (hence experience), or why any stat would be limited to effecting one class. Please post your thoughts, good, bad, helpful, or additionary (ooo made up a word i think :S It is late) Peace, Gaddy |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by New Generation on 01/03/04 at 13:40:20 I agree with this, sounds useful, makes the 6stat crits worth alot more than the 5stat off in int. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Mephistroth on 01/03/04 at 14:19:58 Hmm, I agree with this, except that it would be unfair for those characters that have already been rolled and have low int. Providing their not level 30 of course. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Oracle on 01/03/04 at 14:28:56 So how would you suggest we make it fair to characters that already exist? You can't let the whole game re-roll it's stats so I don't really think you can make this fit into the game atm, as nice as the idea may be. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Eternyte on 01/03/04 at 17:04:53 It's a nice thought but unrealistic. I like the idea though, but there is no way of adding it to the game without being unfair in one way or another. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Mephistroth on 01/03/04 at 19:13:37 lol, why is it that when most people agree with an idea pan doesn't like it, and when people don't like an idea pan likes it.. strange :-/ Edit: Although it isn't that I don't like the idea, I think its cool but not sure if it would work. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Everlast on 01/03/04 at 22:40:42 I don't quite understand how it effects crits already in game. But i also agree with- on 01/03/04 at 20:35:38, CPG wrote:
The min intel for most races is 8...I think...I don't play with the roller, it is rude. I think it would help the game in many aspects- -Harder to entirly predict training and exp on crits. -Crits can be 5 stat with int perf and off char and possibly be liked/paid as well as off int crits. K, I'm done cause listing these is getting boring, and I would like to get some food. Peace, Gaddy |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Zephie on 01/03/04 at 22:45:31 Gaddy - The reason it would affect characters already in game is. Most people have rolled their crits believing that intel didn't matter at all, now if intel all of a sudden makes a huge impact on how quickly you level your crit I would imagine it would make some people unhappy. I do think having intel do something is great, The idea is pretty cool. Good work. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by CPG on 01/03/04 at 23:01:31 Yeah, it's kind of how like Clerics used to use int for spellcasting and then one day it changed. Now they don't need int, but they need char. Clerics got screwed blahblahblah you get the point heh. Cool idea, I like it. Less stupid people running around. etc. Whatever. Hit guy wif lol. k |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Issy on 01/04/04 at 00:35:58 I really like the idea, being that intel is the stat that hardly anyone cares about. Seeing intelligence have an importance in the game would be nice. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Momba on 01/04/04 at 01:10:23 Great idea Gaddy. I would love to see intel count for something. And with your suggestion the impact wouldn`t be so drastic that it would make all crits with low intel useless. Maybe however make the downside to having low intel be for each point under 9 it is -.5 xpd. I suggest this becuase we know NM players don't want to give anything useful up even if it would enhance the game as a whole in the future. Nice crits (1 off 6 and 6 stats) are sadly becoming very common. It would be nice to still allow them to be something special. This kind of improment to the game would ensure they don't lose thier value. |

Title: Re: Making Intelligence Matter Post by Everlast on 01/04/04 at 01:19:46 Thanks for the support guys. Hopefully staff takes up on it, although I dont really expect it to be added unless Pandi (or if JLH has thoughs) really does like it...and finds time to add it. So....any updates on the support for it being enough of if there is a good chance of it being added? |
