Title: Buyable stats Post by CPG on 12/10/03 at 01:20:02 To be honest, I don't expect this to be put into the game. It's just a nifty idea I had. To put it simply, there would be a place to go where you could purchase stat additions for a character. The price would be 1 million gold. That would be 1 million gold, for one permanent stat addition to any level character. No, this is not exactly the same as buying an amulet. Permanent. If you mess up, hah, too bad. You can't decide you don't want it and give it to another crit. If you sell the crit, you don't get the point. Now that i've listed the main disadvantages, here's some advantages. It doesn't take up an ammy slot. There won't be a stupid amount of these ingame because there's only like...50 mil MAYBE ingame so that only allows for 50 stat points to be bought. And think about it, buying these would help the NM economy. "But wait, wouldn't less money make it worse?" No! It makes it better. I would explain it, but dognapot has basically written it out in half of his posts. Oh yeah, something else real nifty about these stats is that if you added say...1 to con, it would omfg be like +1 to con! Yeah, coolness. But, if you get like +23958265 con and still get meh HP then hah, you wasted a lot of $$. So, in my eyes, there are equal advantages and disadvantages. How about you? |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by CPG on 12/10/03 at 01:55:03 The best people in general don't have a lot of money. Just crits and items. There aren't very many people ingame with more than 3 mil gold. I don't think they would spend all their gold on these stats either. Really though, if Jen bought 20 points, would that make her more powerful? It would make some of her crits better, yes. But there's the fact that she will be basically broke and there is 20 mil less gold in Nightmist. Less money to buy things with. It's really more of an economy thing, but I can't possibly see anyone obtaining a huge advantage buying stats. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by Spekkio on 12/10/03 at 02:01:23 That is exactly the point... only the best can accumalate that kind of money... how many noobs have a CSotW? Those that do have them obviously have the ability to amase very large amounts of gold! Smaller players might be able to get 1 point... but the big time players would get so many points that it is insanity to even consider it... the only thing I can think of that might make this worth while is... You can only but stats to boost low stats, not to go over the bonderies of that races "max stats." |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by CPG on 12/10/03 at 02:09:09 They accumulate through trading. How can you possibly get rich when there is no money? This would mean less trading and actually having to go out and do stuff. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by Cyrax on 12/10/03 at 02:15:36 I don't like this idea, buying stats is not needed, it makes the powerful even more powerful in which JLH or anyone is not looking for. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by CPG on 12/10/03 at 02:28:25 Well, i'm not sure if you are understanding my idea completely. Although I am being kind of stubborn about it. I don't think that this would make people stronger. It would make crits stronger, we all know that for a fact. Technically it wouldn't make them stronger as most people would just get dex, while overlooking benefits of the other stats. I would much rather have a lvl 1 Mage and enough gold to put a point or two into his wisdom than an arch Ranger with 24 dex. Being actual stats added, the Mage would gain more MP, hopefully, also paired with more damage from spells. Add two wisdom to an arch Mage and you will be missing out on a lot. Some people also prefer to mainly use 1 character than many. This would be more for those people. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by CPG on 12/10/03 at 02:43:08 I said in general. There's a couple exceptions. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by Mephistroth on 12/10/03 at 22:21:27 lol this idea is insane, and will never be put in. There is no way that it would be balanced. I'd try to be a bit more careful with the word 'nifty'. It isn't the one i'd use to describe this idea. |

Title: Re: Buyable stats Post by Silex on 12/13/03 at 01:32:42 Hell no don't make it limited to max stats, that would piss me the **** off so badly...well...would if i had access back to our account with 4 six stat crits in it..people shouldnt be able to take a crit that is 1 off 6 stat, pay one mill and make it worth, well in my opinion, priceless basically. |
