Title: /Timer
Post by alone on 12/05/03 at 15:16:04
Along the lines of my /calc idea.. Useless to all but me :D And i'll be the only one to see the point of it :P

/timer 1h30m

It'd then count down until 1hour 30minutes had past, at which point, it'd force a beep (Even if you have sound off).

The reason i think this'd be good:
Have you ever been making dinner? And had it over cook, cus you were playing NM for too long!!
Or have you ever said you'd be somewhere and forgotten to go/been late???
Or even something as simple as just been playing for too long, had other work to do, need to call someone..
Anything that may need to be done at a certain time. This is the solution..
So, join me, and say: "We need a Nightmist Timer!"

Well, there we go..

Don't you have an alarm clock somewhere in the house? When playing NWN, to make sure I wasn't late for my exam I just set the alarm on my clock.. i'm sure you must have one in the house somewhere.

There's a calculator in Windows, JLH still put one on NM though :D

This actually may be quite handy.  There have been many times when I have sat down and told myself I'd only play for 10 or 20 minutes, but then I first look at the clock 2 hours later...  :o

Wouldn't it be hard to make it beep if the sound is off? I just don't see how it would work. Nice idea.

The computer can actually beep, itself.. I believe..?

Possibly instead of a beep, a message saying that your timer has expired.

And yes, nearly every computer should have some sort or internal tone generator.

due to demand, and easyness to add, i'll add it. as for beeping, if your system speaker isn't connected it wouldn't do the default beep. i'll make it do the paging sound and display a message on screen if that's ok?

nobody noticed that little clock that comes with windows and prolly unix too? you just look at it a few times and you know how long you've been playing.

i say it's kinda retarded but guess i'm just not as aobsessed as you ppl.

The windows clock would be useful, but that would cause me to look away from my Nightmist window.  And we all know that won't happen.   :D

Yeah, but my maths isn't the best in the world, and if i stop to work out if I've been playing for an hour yet, I'll end up dead :P
