Title: Mercenaries Post by Aranious on 11/21/03 at 15:40:48 I think it would be cool to be able to "rent out" your own crits for some time as mercenaries or something. I haven't really thought this through but feel free to expand on the idea. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Kharybdis on 11/21/03 at 16:45:12 Interesting idea... /hire (crit name) to (whoever you're hiring the crit to) (x) hours for your (items, gold, etc). After x hours have passed, the crit is automatically transferred back to your account. While your crit is rented, its equipment can't be changed in any way. Thus, you could rent out a crit and charge considerably more because it has a powerful weapon and strong armor without worrying about losing the equipment. Example: /hire Crit to Person 1 hour for your 1000 gold. It's basically modelled after the trade system with a few modifications. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Mephistroth on 11/21/03 at 16:48:32 Pretty good idea. Not sure if you'd get that many people offering their crits though. |

This is a great idea.. Except the name of the rented crit would have to be changed, otherwise it'd be abused.. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Pandilex on 11/21/03 at 17:47:59 And what happens when the crit comes back with half its exp missing from dying over and over... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by alone on 11/21/03 at 17:55:14 Make it so the crit can be set to attack players/not attack players? By the owner, before sending. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Gosu Alex Wild on 11/21/03 at 17:56:49 let it die by monsters |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Bean on 11/21/03 at 19:28:54 Freeze the exp on the crit when hired... no gain, and no loss. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Banned on 11/21/03 at 19:31:20 Yea right, that would be cool, hire a party that can pk but doesnt lose anything... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Bean on 11/21/03 at 19:36:18 Who said It could pk? Lol... |
||
|
Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Banned on 11/21/03 at 19:38:56 Lol, then why would you use it? |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Kharybdis on 11/21/03 at 19:42:28 One possible solution could be to set a cap on the number of deaths when you first rent the crit out, and if that limit is reached the crit would be returned to your account prematurely. I suppose if you wanted to look at it from a realistic standpoint, a mercenary might not want to stick with an employer if all his fights were losing battles. Edit: Didn't notice a typo... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Bean on 11/21/03 at 22:43:14 /t banned Boss kills perhaps? As a healer for training? The games not all about pking... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by alone on 11/22/03 at 09:46:11 I agree with Kharybdis. A set limit to the number of deaths would work, both monster and player.. And would you really rent your crit to someone who might go out and get it killed purposefully..?? |

So you lose xp from being killed by monsters too...and that would make you unpk-able as a cleric? Edit: Kharybdis has a nice idea, dont see any faults in that... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Metatron on 11/23/03 at 21:36:51 yes the idea is quite nice , lol you might even see some people pimping out their crits :D |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by CadiveR on 11/24/03 at 00:16:52 Bah the idea is bad for the fact of losing Exp. But if you could figure out a way to have a fixed deposit on the crit depending on the level. Thus the deposit being returned if the crit is returned unharmed? |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Matt on 11/24/03 at 01:13:29 Not a bad idea. I just think it needs more development to prevent those things from happening. |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by JLH on 11/24/03 at 02:31:23 the most obvious way is a death counter |
||
|
Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Banned on 11/24/03 at 09:31:15 And a time counter, cuz if you just dont use it and let it stay in your account he will never get it back.... |

Title: Re: Mercenaries Post by Deval on 11/25/03 at 00:00:53 R.E People killing the hired crits: Remember, people are paying you for the useage of the crit. So considering people don't go hiring out their crits for stupid amounts, I.E 1 gold, people are not likely to pay hard earned cash just to pk your crits in the most unsatisfying manner ever. |
