Title: Fighting Monsters
Post by G Man on 11/17/03 at 02:42:53
I was just wandering around thinking it would be kinda fun to see monsters go after each other every now and again.  I dunno, I didn't really think it through a whole lot, but I think it would be hilarious to see a giant leech laying the smack down on a giant rat.

What do ya'll think?   ;D

Logically It makes sense...

The monsters dont really have a central government *At least I dont think anyone has seen one  :P* So there has GOT to be a lot of fueding among them... Lol...

This would exclude boss monsters though I assume... seeing as they are a higher ranking form of monster and the lower less powerful monsters would be afraid to attack them...  ;)

Hedge Lord: Minion! Fetch me some women!

Hedge Minion: Ugh...That's the fourth time today...

Hedge Lord: SILENCE INFIDEL! ::lops off head::

Wolf: *growl*

Small Snake: Hissss....

Wolf: ::eats snake::

Brown Bear: ARRRR

Black Bear: ARRRRR

*fight to the death*

Brown Bear: kthnxggnub ::urinates on corpse::

Brown Bear: i am teh win

It could be interesting to give certain monsters emity with others (ie wolves & snakes, skeletons & <any non-undead>, etc.).  Good idea!

Oh shut the hell up scream, This happens to be nightmist not the twinkie factory...

I still thinks its a rather logical idea, and Would fit well in the game, as long as other monsters wouldnt attack boss monsters.... :D

People would just lure monsters and pick them off as they got weak.. I know i would.. Make cash easier that way..

That my friend sounds like battle tactics to me, and I dont really see why that should be a huge problem.

If your willing to take the time to make sure a certain monster follows you so that it will attack another, all the power to you, while your doing that I bet I could kill 10+ of any monster your trying to do it to...

::)

Yes, I did look to you like god rich...

I've lost weight since then.

My attitude now, is because you have proven time, and time again you are retarded upon belief.... So do us all a favor and just go away, dont come back. Your banned anyways so why stay...

On topic, I want to see bears beat the nuts outta each other and have the dialogue CPG posted, that would be good for some laughs.

That is really only the way I can see this working. It wouldn't make sense if all the monsters beat the crap outta each other, animals do have inbred instincts thats would have them avoid other specific beasts for safetys sake.

For example, kittens and puppys run when Rich appears, for history has created an instinct in them, that lets them know anything digestable is not safe whilst he is around.

Exactly.  And just because two species of creatures "don't mingle well" doesn't mean they have to fight every time they meet.  But at least every now and then one gets up some nerve and just goes for the juggular.

Ouch, feel the BURN.

But anyways to comment on this or more a question:

Would the monster that gets the kill get the exp and gold from the kill?

I think that if a brown bear for example was to kill a black bear then it should get the exp and even get stronger for that kill. Would make things a bit more interesting in the game.

uhhhhhh if that happened than i would never get through the large forest(not like i can get through anyway)my theif with 110 hp at lvl 10 would be creamed. i say the animals dont get the exp. but the gold just drops to the floor......

The monsters still can't move on their own, so they would have to follow a player around quite a bit to earn enough exp to lvl up.  Plus, how would they get themselves to a guild?  I don't think the exp would be an issue.  Although I do think that they should get the gold just like they would if they were fighting a player.
