It would be pretty cool if they added the players Statistics, probably been talked about before but oh well. Also keeps players from telling you the wrong stats or something.

Some times your just curious what there stats are though and maybe they are not with you. 8)

Not everyone wants others to know their stats, hence why it is up to them to do /showstats.
