Title: Offline Roller.
Post by Sausage on 11/01/03 at 17:22:20
What do you think? I'm sure there's a way it could be done.. I can see that it may be susceptible to hacking and things of that nature. I think it would be nice though.  :-/

Wont get added cuz it would be way to easy to crack it and roll a lot of 6 stats....

who said anything about having to roll them with this, you could add an extra program and just make them.

yup. if the roller is online you could easier code your own thing which just added strait away.  you see, the offline roller would be rolled offline, and the data would be sent to the server when you go online.  now, you could easily code something that made 6 stats, and have it send to the server when you are online.

Surely the same thing is still actually possible.. If you know the data that's sent to the server to get a 6 stat crit, surely couldn't you just recreate that data packet, and make the server think it's recieving it from the roller?

Not knowing loads and loads about computers im probably completely wrong about this.. But it sounds as though it should be possible.

i think the roller is server side, because if it was client side you would be able to open the file and start messing about with things.

Most likely the way it works is you click the roll button, it sends a message to the server, the server rolls some stats and sends them back, and you can either accept them or reroll.

yes, when you click roll, the client sends the race to the server, and the server replies with stats, the client does not make the stats itself

cuz if it did then we wouldnt have lag....

if it did you could manipulate the roller to send infomation that you've rolled a 6 stat or whatever . . . at least the way its set up cheating is practially impossible

Title: Re: Offline Roller.
Post by Outsider on 11/03/03 at 18:25:36
Yes i do, ask JLH if it possible to make an autoroller

Title: Re: Offline Roller.
Post by deSade on 11/03/03 at 18:26:41
'cas the stats are rolled server side, you would have to crack that, and while that is not impossible, why would ne1 wanna run the risk of getting caught just for a 6stat?

Title: Re: Offline Roller.
Post by Outsider on 11/03/03 at 18:30:33
k i'll explain, it wasnt that difficult to make an autoroller before the math question. the max stats are red, you just make a program which presses reroll untill all 6 stats are red.

now with the math question its waayy harder but can still be done in the same way.

Title: Re: Offline Roller.
Post by deSade on 11/03/03 at 18:35:52
True, but how they stop that is they change the math question to funky different shaped numbers that autorollers cant read.

Title: Re: Offline Roller.
Post by Outsider on 11/03/03 at 18:38:52
Autorollers read whatever you want it to read, as long as you have enough knowledge to make it happen.

As with the red of maxstats you wont let the roller read the numbers, but u just take a pixel and if its red its good and if its not it just keeps going.

Your right Outsider  8) but its a bit redundant 'cas I doubt NM has ne1 capable or if they are why would they run thet risk for a 6stat?

also, as they are easily discovered, you type in your account name and password one day to be greeted by the message "no such account exists..."

haha, easily discovered....don't see you make jokes often, but hey, good one.  ;)

i'll assume you've used one then, your account has been banned, how's that for a joke?

Well if he hadnt of been disciplined for this, then he would have been for something I found out, and reported to JLH. He was bragging to me the other night, of course not realizing who I was, that he had made some very nasty posts under an alias forum name. He showed me the posts....I took it to JLH.

Isnt it a riot when people brag about things that theyve done that they shouldnt have? Isnt it that much more hilarious when its a staff member on a mortal crit that they are bragging to?

Oh well unbanned again, and life goes on....if you can call it that.
