Title: haha, another class idea Post by CPG on 10/29/03 at 21:51:48 I can't think of the appropriate name for them but perhaps spirits or elemental(s)(ists). Their main feature of this class is that it will have no HP. It's a completely magical entity. So in addition to mana consumption by abilities (no spells), they will have to consider not dying. Abilities: Vanish - Kind of like invis. Basically the entity disperses itself and floats around in an unnoticeable form. Vision would not work to uncover. May not attack/cast spells etc while in this state. Vanishing and reappearing take a total of 8 seconds to do. No hit and runs with this :P Also, 15 MP to vanish and another 15 to reappear. - level 20 Drain - Drains small amounts (same as cleric heal) of MP from monsters/players. No experience gained. - level 1 Mana Flare - Release a small ball of ignited magic. 10-15 damage - level 1 - 8 MP Cold Touch - Freezing the air around one's hand, this can cause small cases of frostbite instantaneously. 15-25 damage - level 5 - 13 MP Infect - Creating a small cut, created virii can enter the victim. Poison damage of 20 per 30sec - level 10 - 30 MP Flash - A searing flash of light emits from the being causing burns to all that are near. 30-40 damage - level 15 - 30 MP - Affects all on square, monsters and players (even if on nopk). Bolt - Calling forth a lightning bolt from the sky, it will strike anything the being wishes. 40-50 damage - level 20 - 20 MP Synthesize - Generates a magical weapon or armor. Base damage is equal to .5*lvl+10 ac is equal to lvl*2 - level 25 - 100 MP Quake - Taking control of the earth around him, the being manipulates and hurls it at his opponents. 50-60 damage - level 27 - 25 MP Sharp Wind - Summons small bursts of winds at breakneck speeds. 60-70 damage - level 29 - 35 MP - Does -1 damage for every 10 ac other person has. Teleport - Concentrating all their energy on one point, the being may transport themself there. level 30 - all MP - You may teleport to any pub - only usable on full stam and if no other things are on the square. Now that all the castable abilities have been stated, it would be really cool for passive abilities to come into play. Here's my ideas for this class. Gentle Breeze - A gentle breeze floats the user to an unreachable point. level 25 - dismisses the use of ropes, climbing equipment etc. Regeneration - Drawing energy from the life around him, the being will restore at a faster pace. level 20 - increases mana regeneration to 8 per 30 seconds. Dispersion - When running low on magical forces, parts of the being begin to disappear. level 1 - When mortally wounded, dodge% goes up by 15% Seeing as it would be a magcal class, the MP gains would be very high. I would suggest an average Mage gain * 2. I would very much love to see this a solo class. It would be extremely interesting. Class would not be able to equip weapons or armor. No spells to buy, just the abilities. I think that's pretty much it, feel free to add or comment. |

I found another problem. The whole no dying part seems a bit over the top.. maybe i'm missing something, but surely they would be too over powered? (being able to do 70 damage and not die) |

Well the passive ones should be bought... I know that sounds stuipid, But I also think maybe they should be limited to a few passive abilities only... They just have a life force that they're able to use, kind of like a horse, if you mis treat it, it'll run till it dies. It you miss use this class, you'll end up killing yourself. Their life force could be equal to that of a Mage's mana x 1.5.. What happens when you do die, anything different? Or just loss of EXP? It'd be good to finally see a big punishment for death.. |

And how do u suppose to ever win moshes? I dont really like the life being ur mp and all but some of the abilites sound really cool. |

It's so out of the norm but still so cool that it would be a most excellent addition to have. It totally flips the current character design on it's ear. My verdict: Refreshingly off beat - a worthwhile addition. |

I disagree with two spells though. They should not get vanish or teleport. As I state in almost every new class thread (practically every one suggests being able to covert in some form), there are way too many coverting classes. Adding another just takes away from what another class has to offer. Teleport should not come into the game in means as you've stated because it is just simply what portal rooms were in Nightmist. They were removed for a reason. Other than that I endorse your idea. |

Looking back, I do realize that vanish is quite an overpowered covert ability. Teleport is pretty much like recall, except on a larger scale. So I guess no vanish, but maybe something similar to recall. |
