Title: Resting
Post by Kharybdis on 09/20/03 at 18:13:00
I think it might be a good addition if a command for resting was put in.  The rest command would basically represent you sitting down and taking a break, taking a nap, etc.  While resting you would gain HP and MP at twice (or some other multiple...  whatever seems best) the normal rate, but you also would be unable to move, attack, or use abilities until you got up.

To stop resting, you would type /rest again.  Doing so would take all your stamina, because if someone decides to assault a person who is resting, naturally the person who is already up and ready for battle would have the advantage.

While resting your description would change to something like:

Chatturgah is a Male Elf Adept Druid. He looks strong, wise, fast, and sexy. In one hand he holds a Staff of Elements, the other a Feathered Shield. He is wearing a Bear Pelt. Around his neck sits a Golden Leaf Amulet. He is a Founder (Twilight of the Gods) of Unrestrained Abnormality and he is resting

So there's not much of a change, it just makes your current status "resting" and changes the color to the neutral blue rather than green, orange, or red.

Summary:

  • The command is /rest
  • You regenerate hp and mp at an increased rate while resting, but you cannot do anything aside from talking.
  • To stop resting you type /rest again and it takes all your stamina.

Good Idea.  Ive played plenty of games where you can do that and it helps.

1) I don't see why you shouldn't be able to rest outside of town.

2) If Outsider's response wasn't clear enough, yes you would be susceptible to damage while resting.

Hehe, have you played Shadowbane?

I like the idea, it's pretty spiffy.

I've always wanted to just... fall asleep sometimes. lol

Waiting for spawns for example... Talking to untalkative people... Etc etc.

same here but then i talked with jlh about changing the food thingy so the damage increases by x^1.3 and makes you weaker which would mean rest will only work for a short while if you are hungry / thristy :D
