Title: Ninja Class...(modified)
Post by jadedgothgirl on 08/27/03 at 14:47:44
Ok, I've given this some more thought and come up with a couple of unique ideas that will hopefully make it a more unique class.

A ninja class, they would have several build in abilities like rangers but wouldn't get to use some of them till certain lvls And these abilities will either require a specific weapon to use or none at all.

Cloak of Shadows: would work the same as covert, would take 1 stam to move (lvl 1) From an rpg stand point, we know ninjas are great at disappearing when they choose so this would be a natural ability for them.

Concealment: Again, from an rpg stand point ninjas have been known to hide objects and weapons on their person which are undetectable by others. The way this would work is the ninja would be able to hide 1 item/weapon away...ect.  /conceal healing potion & they cant drop it if they die. This ability will be most useful when they get to lvl 20 (I'll explain in a momnet) (lvl 1 ability)

Power punch: Takes no weapons, bare hands only (as ninjas are prone to using martial arts to fight rather than weapons) This would work like duel shot (but not the same dmg as) 1 punch 1 stam... The dmg would be 1-5 at lvl 1 & go up 1 dmg for every lvl gained. (lvl 1)

Power kick: Would work the same as above but wont get it to lvl 10, the dmg for this ability would be 1-10 at lvl 10 and go up by 1-2 every lvl

Leap - Ability - Level 20

Gathering his strength, the Ninja leaps high into the air with sword bared. He prepares a crushing blow to one of his opponents upon landing.

Choosing an opponent or monster, the Ninja jumps high into the air and gets ready to stab their target. During the time they are in the air (3-5 seconds), they cannot attack or be attacked. Massive amounts of damage will be inflicted. Perhaps lvl*(1/2str+1/4dex). To balance things out, it would say "A shadow falls upon you from high above." right after the Ninja jumps in the air so you can run or whatever.

(credit for this ability goes to CPG) I would make 1 small ajustment maybe this ability can't be used without a sword/katana.

Rapid throw: This skill cant be used without a specific weapon like throwing stars. Now this is where the concealment ability would come into play, the throwing stars cant be used without this ability, so you can either keep the throwing stars on you at all times or, use concealment to hide your katana so you can switch attacks (between rapid throw & leap) farely easy.

They wouldn't get to use any weapons till lvl 20, so they have to depend on their punches & kicks. & their lvl 20 weapon would be katanas, which they'ed use just like a fighter, & would do the same kind of dmg as a blade of honor or pike.

Well what do yall think?  (I think I've given them enough unique & balanced abilities which would make them unlike any other class & wouldn't make them over powered, but I'm open to suggestions.)

nice, kind of like a ranger/theif hybrid but looks like it needs a bit more developement but cant think of any myself.

I think your just making a class with all the best abilities from other classes.. it has smite, rapid fire, covert.. a little over powered maybe?

Maybe. Just said it was an idea, the skills they get can be reworked to make them more even handed. I'd say these would be just as hard to lvl as rangers, could give em a disavantage like they cant have a weapon till like lvl 25 So all the kicks/punches would be bare hands. & maybe only the rapid throw u would use a weapon for.

Monk would be a better name for this, as it fits in more with the likes of Druids, Clerics, Paladins, Fighters, Rangers, Beserkers, Mages, Thiefs and Monks. Also all classes have the dungeons and dragons feel, Ninja just dont really come into this sorta thing...  :-/

Wasn't a "Ninja" class discussed before and shot down prior to zerkers?

Meh... Ninjas should have two swords... be able to throw Shrikens as an item like pots and can covert, but we dont need another Ranger....

I hate to be the poo-pooer, but I swear, if I see another thread with the Ninja & Monk suggestion, I'm gonna rip out my hair. I've seen this thread at the least, 4 times, on the old and new forums.

LET THE NINJA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I garuntee there will not be another class (for a long while) with a joint abilities, i.e. Smite/Assassinate - Berserk/Rapid Fire.    Berserker was a cool idea, because it was the first-- now if you can think of other original abilities to slap on the Ninja, go for it.

So a level 30 human would do.... 19/2 = 9.5 (say 10) + 19/4 = 4.75 (say 4 to even it out). So, 30 x 14 damage, thats 420 right? Thats a bit much i think.  ;D

maybe when it hits with all stam :D maybe it should be 420 / 5 = 84 for each stam :D

chance to hit witha  stam = 50% which would make the average attack 210. something like that :D

LOL and the zerkers smite isn't?! I've done that with my lvl 26 zerker  :P

I read the concealment idea and thought of something real spiffy. They could hide some of their equipment, so when you look them over, you don't see everything they have.

___ is a Male Halfling Expert Ninja. He looks strong, wise, extremely fast, and sexy. He is wearing a Fireleaf Tunic. He is in a healthy condition.

Not against players you haven't (Unless its a zerker, but they don't really count)

And zerkers don't have armour, which makes up for their high damage.

Having high HP makes up for no armor.

Please keep this on topic. Ninjas=1337ness

It would be cool if they could have sword techniques as well as martial arts.

You guys forget that there is a chance to 'DODGE' this attack by just.... moving one square in either direction...

And that fact that it could miss outright, be blocked, damage halved due to armor, and such.

Should just make it have a small penalty for if you miss or something...

Good ideas though :D

Edit:And 'THE' fact.... not that....

Exactly Bean. That was why I stated there should be a warning message, so they can move out of the way. And yeah, I suppose it could work somewhat like assassinate. In a sense that it won't hit with all stamina, but can.
