Maybe this could be a class.  Those take work though.  I would think that anyone who isn't a nasty pker should be able to 'apply' for a position of sheriff.  Where if they got an item (handcuffs) they could use an ability (handcuff).  This could take 3 stamina and maybe 5 seconds without the sheriff being attacked.  So if the sheriff caught someone doing something wrong he could handcuff them.

Then take them to jail, and get gold for it.

No offence or anything but I don't really like this.. seems like Sheriffs would piss everyone off and not really be of any use.

sherriffs are useless as long as guards prevent crim from happening in town. however if we allow crime in town then the sherriff is dead meat.

Then get rid of the guards and have players sherriffs/guards instead...

People would abuse the right to put people in jail, for gold, which seems to easy to make alot.

Seems my other post was deleted. Basically, it said 'stfu' but probably a little harsher. This won't ever appeal to me. I don't like having some smart ass going around jailing people for the fun of it, and getting gold because of it.

You all seem to think if this was even considered to be put in, the sheriff would be able to indiscrimenantly jail people...

Obviously You can only be jailed for doing something wrong... and OBVIOUSLY you cant be caught doing something wrong if the sheriff isnt on the same square as you.

So Really your arguing that you would not be able to resist the temptation of robbing a shop/Killing a player and risking jailing...

IF you would stop to think for just one second that if JLH where to program this into the game things like;

"I don't like having some smart ass going around jailing people for the fun of it, and getting gold because of it."

Couldnt happen... Because if you've broken the law you obviously deserve the jailing...

And there would probably be a fairly easy fix to people taking thier alt and gaining money by simply commiting crimes and jailing it...

Try to not just say 'I dont like it, It doesnt appeal to ME'

Because really You've gotta have some more constructive criticism than that...

guys, it's a stupid idea, just let it go. the sherriff wouldn't be able indiscriminately jail people (but it goes to show how this idea hasn't been thought out in the least), but the sherriff would undoubtedly be major pk bait and most likely never fullfill any purpose.
