Title: Pacifists and their deity friends. Post by Stigmata on 07/24/03 at 13:46:21 Ok we all know pacifists are able to block all attacks from players using their deity. I think this is an interesting idea, in theory.......but extremely annoying to everyone else. Instead of players using them for roleplaying (not saying everyone doesn't) most are using them to generally annoy everyone else. A character that can cause negative effects to others without penalty is in need of balancing. And before anyone questions this, I mean the spells that stop you attacking others and dealing half damage (which are negative to the person being cast on). I suggest that pacifists need to kill a certain amount of undead monsters per day to keep their deity faithful to them via blocking all attacks. This would make them more of a roleplaying class (which i believe is what was intented originally) as they would need to work for their abilities. If the pacifist doesn't kill the required undead per day then they would lose their deity blocking skill until they did. I really don't think they are at all balanced at the moment, as they are pretty much more annoying to everyone else than that lvl 30 pker all the newbies used to rant and rave about. |

Some of the annoyance will pass with time, but is it really more annoying than getting pked over and over when you're trying to train? Most people don't think of this because they've played the game long enough to control several high level characters, and they kill other players too much to realise how frustrating it can be. |

So they can get away with everything. Edit: my main is a paci now, so dont flame me on saying i dont like it that i cant pk them. |

Post by Dys on 07/24/03 at 15:04:42 The reason that some of us can control many high lvl players is because we had to learn how to defend ourselves... when i first started playing this game was somewhat challenging but now its just getting boring and way to easy.... when i started i was lvl 1 getting killed by lvl 30's but did i not become a stronger player because of it? this is just a way for ppl to basically cheat they're way to having a lvl 30 alt and then annoy people with it non stop... |

Current pacifists go around taunting people, casting subdue on them, casting lesser pact on them, casting justice zone so people can't pk, casting greater pact so bosses can't be killed. Looks to me like pacifists are causing more problems. |

Post by -Gaddy- on 07/26/03 at 20:20:46 Hmm i do seem to remember how annoying it was back in the day being a lvl 5+ crit (only played lancaster, but he was a low lvl, right when i started), having some arch ranger with way too much time on their hands track me...then follow me anywhere i went..leaving town ment dying immidatly since they held macro to dual shot..using dual shot so it wouldnt take all of their stam and they could run back to town and find me before i could hide or something..dealing with someone like that for an hour...thats not what this game is meant to do...giving people who do that crap at bosses isnt cool either, and i think something should be done to stop it, but i've seen the better side of it..being at the CG with some people having a pacifist keep us safe with JZ, then having allstar show up to take the kill away, so our pacifist greater pacted him and we got the kill, would it be fair if he could just wait til mort and come take the kill away after we stayed so long to get the kill? i dont think it would be. It isnt cool when people sit at a boss messing around with people just keeping them from being able to get the drop, but if people do it and it is such a big problem, go train a pacifist and go get the kill anyway cause then they cant do anything to you. So many people have big problems with them and stuff, but i dont think they've got any high lvl ones in their account that they use, problem is that they think they should be able to get the halberd or something every day because thats the way it usually is, but now they're being screwed with and dont want to try to find another way to get the drop. (my pacifist is half way to lvl 25...too boring and too much time away from everyone and not getting to train my lower lvls or do other things for me to spend much time training it while im in game) |
