Ok a lot of people have expressed their concerns about players leaving low level crits, and possibly Pacifists on their release on boss squares to stop them from spawning.
This indeed is highly pathetic, but none the less does and probably will happen with Pacifists.

Is there anyway that we can make Boss Squares unaccessible, unless the Boss is actually sitting on the square. So effectively the square only spawns with the boss?

this would be a good idea but it would also make something like a spyglass totally useless and it would also be that the boss can only spawn on his own or with a set amount of monsters with it.

The Demonic General always spawns with a set amount of monsters with it, being 1 Demonic Soldier....so whats your point.

How would it make a Spyglass useless? It's not difficult to try and walk into a boss square and look to see if it's there anyway.
A spyglass just enabled you to look 1 square around you. For instance, to check the amount of players on a boss square (but if the square isnt there, there isnt a point). Or too check to see if there are any trap in the next square, or someone has set up grasping vines.

So the spyglass wouldnt be totally useless. In fact it would be exactly as it is now.

I posted this in Pacifist discussion but as not many people go there I'll post it here too . . .

This idea has been brought up before but just to reiterate I'll bring it up again . . .

When a boss spawns if possible to code perhaps anyone whos on the boss square should either be killed/teleported to pub . . .

So u dont have to check if the boss spawns, but u can just put a pacifist there and the sec he got killed/teleported u know the boss has spawned.

Maybe if someone has been sitting there for more then 5 minutes or something. It would kind of suck to show up 10 seconds before the boss spawns and them be killed......

i hear ya andy, but would it be really that bad if we could see the miracle of monster creation firsthand? c'mon, jlh, it would cut out a bit of stupidity if monsters could spawn while your on the same sqaure.

I don't think it should be that they are unaccesable, but possibly at spawn time if someone is already on the boss square (include monsters in this plz plz?) they'd get kicked to local, or it could say something like, a surge of energy creating _______ blows you to the east, north, south, or west.

JLH always said that if he let monsters spawn with people on the square it would make auto-training a whole lot easier. I'm not sure on the moving players off the square so a monster could spawn. Sounds a bit fishy like a penguin.

Not monsters though, bosses, people couldnt leave crits at bosses to auto-train..atleast none of them anymore...cause of how often they are all checked..i agree..monsters should spawn with people on the square..that would definatly let people auto-train, but if you were to allow bosses to spawn but push people off the boss square when they do, the person would still have to know spawn time so they could move back to the square..and for them not to be pked would be a pretty unlikly think, even the hourly bosses are usually checked often enough for people to kill anything left that is just training off it.

Well teleported or being killed when he respawns isnt a good idea either, cuz if u do that u'll know exactly when he spawns.

Ull put a covert lvl 2 thief there and when u see him die/teleported u move in

you mean you cant sit to 1 to the side of it and move to it once every 20 seconds or so?  Most of the people who are going to the bosses sit at them unless it's one that will be there for a little while, like the AM and CG...so really sitting crits on there waiting for them to be moved wouldnt change a lot...people are still going to be at the boss within 10 seconds of it spawning...maybe sending them to local instead of 1 to the side...but not killing them...thats a lot of exp to lose if you just happen to cross the path at the wrong time...

Well it is all a bunch of nonsense cuz if ppl wanne keep bosses from spamming the could just use a lvl1-3, instead of a pacifist.

U can let the 1-3 just stand on the square and still play, with the one alt rule with pacifist u cant.

So pacifist wont keep bosses from spawning, noone will do so cuz its much easier to put a lvl 1-3 there

everyone knows when bosses spawn anyway, so what does it matter if they die/log off/teleported.

Maybe it's just me but I always thought of bosses spawning as being a force of very powerful magic. One minute all is peaceful and the next this beast appears. Why not make it so that a burst of blinding light enters the room. The light killing everything in sight just before the spawn. This will clear the square for sure.
And for those fools who would use it as a way to know just when the bosses spawn, make that light blind the crit(s) who looked into it for 15 minutes.
Sure we would still have low levels no one cared about walking around blind but it would make the higher levels think twice about it.

How would it make Auto-training easier? Isn't auto-training (without some massive thought put into it) done for as it is?

Simple solution....
Make the spawns random!!!
No more stopping bosses spawn... Why should people know when a boss is gonna spawn... Id call that a bug more than anything
And make the random spawn so there would still be 7 cgs per week ect

I personally like knowing when the bosses will spawn..it lets me kill some (not lately though,  :-X ) I think that bosses should just be kept with a spawn time, just change the time weekly or so...i want powerful clans to know when to go to the bosses, otherwise you've got their big ass parties or arch rangers and nuts running around checking bosses all the time...do you know how hard that would make it to train in anywhere other than deep desert, orc caves (sometimes), swamp, and umm....where? gnolls?  It is really nice when they just sit SGH and check the rax for people to kill every 20 mins or so, instead of poping up checking for bosses every 10 mins...o well...i guess we'll see what happens...either way people get pked all the time..so i dunno, maybe random spawns would be better..but i dont think they'd make a new player or someone like that get any boss kills..i mean.sure plenty of people could get the GCB (he gets rounded by parties of 8 or so high lvl thieves so i'd think a newb party could kill him easily), but they're not going to be able to use the key for anything but maybe a little training, unless they're not very noob like, or have lots of help..cause AM heals, people would check the GSW before anyone who wasnt in a fairly large party could kill it, DG would get anyone owned, CG no one kills til late at night since it is a quick way to die unless you're a huge party (took me 2 hours to get it from very begining of mod, to kill it with 4 lvl 25+ rangers and a cleric), lets see..what else...SK would be checked also, maybe not as often since it is in BT, maybe people would also stand a chance at hedge lord..but the bosses high hp makes it to where they'd be pretty hard to kill w/o a large high lvl party...
