Title: Helping magic users
Post by Alicia on 05/09/03 at 14:46:53
Magic users burn through mana way too quick. You can only train a cleric for about half an hour in museum even with 5 full crits of mana, even less if using holy and consecrated, spelling up the party burns two crystals a time. Mages eat a full crystal every time they mage the party invis, and my mage hasnt got beam yet (which ive heard is even worse) Druids spells are cheap ict mages and clerics but they still munch through crystals in no time. Paladins are not as bad but probably will be when updated.
Because of this i rarely have more than one (usualy a cleric) magic user in my party, unless you need another one for the area u r in, ie mage for chronos/mountains, pally for desert, druid for sewage area and when mapping new areas ect.
To solve this, id say halve everyones mana, and halve all the spell costs. You would still get the same number of beams to a full mana bar, but crystals would be twice as effective

Concerning the cleric though, just don't cast those other spells. In the half hour, think about all the xp you have gained. I can normally pick up 3 or 4 mill each time, and make near 40k..

Look on Cladd Discussions for the magical classes. Most ideas have been brought up there.

yea but ul have spent 13*5*200=13k on mana and 20k on a key so in the end u only make 10k at most.
It is still the best place to train clerics, and you can get good gold in there attacking with other crits (but cleric wont gain as much xp coz it tends to kill more often, i average 9000 xp per normal hit but only 100 if you kill the art sculpture) but imo you should be able to stay in there longer rather than having to run back to rh for more mana and cough up 20k for another key.
And of course ever three or four visits you come across a suicide pk party with two thieves that macro your cleric, sure you then kill them, but with four crits full of mana and no cleric, all you can do is run back and hope you survive the trip to bt.. (in this situation i tend to put all the gold on a covert theif and choose the healthiest crit, give him/her four pots, make them leader and run like hell)

DO NOT use party spells while training your cleric! It eats mana so fast. What you do is bring 3-4 thieves filled with mana and just use divine restoration on the sculptures. If you're patient, don't use holy might. If you aren't, then be prepared to use like half an inv of crystals for it. As for pk'ers, just keep one stam left so if you see anybody you can run instead of getting beaten to death with no stam.

lol with no holy might and 4 stam you only get 2 attacks per round...

and if you take covert thieves as mules all the art sculpture hits will be taken by your cleric, rather than your main fighting crits with more dex/hp/armour

I take it you are training a master cleric then.

Alicia, you keep saying that each time you have to cough up 20k for a Museum Key.
No you don't. Maybe if you're lazy and don't feel like killing the Mayor.. Just wait the extra hour at the most and kill the stupid guy and save 20k.
