The journal chronicles Aet'Thol's fall into madness.  /library Tattered Journal, if you want to read it.

But does the item itself have a purpose like a key?
I already read it a few times. Then I just gave it to my friend & told him to keep it.

No, it's not a key.

id just like to say that id like to see more items like this come into game play.

(1) no it doesnt have any use, as a key, etc.

but, it does give hints as to boss location, and key whereabouts.

(2) this item was good for game enrichment.  instead of one person finding out and blabbing or a staff letting everyone in on it you get...

"...beneath where the priests toil and moil..." a church or chapel

"...in the city of ebony barbs..."  black thorn

"...my vessel is where the dead lie, in Linnar..." Linnar is an anagram for ariLin and where the dead lie=graveyard

ty *bow* :D

Well, if you can just /library the item there's no use in owning it.... ::)

Thats what I was thinking Clayton..
Maybe if you had to possess the item before you could read it? Then it would feel like you had it for a reason. Because there's not really a point in having the item if you could just /library it

I'm not saying there only had to be one in the entire game. I'm just saying that you should have to have it in your inventory to read it.

Like /library would give a description like it does normal items but then you would have to have /read tattered journal and if you didn't have it in your inventory it would say "You do not have a tattered journal." I mean how can you read something you don't have?

doing /library is like an abbreviation of your character actually going to a library. its a roleplay dude. if you want jlh to have to put in libraries for ppl to go to then ask him. but think of it like this, if someone found the tattered journal dont you think word would spread(of course it would or no one would know about it), and dont you think public knowledge would go in a library?

just because you can do /library doesnt mean that its worthless. you would have to know there was a tattered journal in the game, to even do /library tattered journal.  and how would you know, you either (1) found it, which would require the actual item, or (2) heard about it from someone and it would take the item being there for someone to spread the word.

do you think its worthless to have put in the item now?

I don't think the item itself is worthless. But, I see no need to physically own the item, when you can just do a
/library tattered Journal ...

what i was trying to get across was, there is no need now to own the tattered journal but when it was first created it was needed to get the word out.  i didnt say you were wrong in saying its useless now, i was just pointing out why it was created  ;).
