look at the mesh shield and iron shield for example. the iron shield offers 3 ac more, and is available at lvl 15. the mesh shield is avalaible at lvl 17, and as i stated, is 3 ac LESS. there are other items like this. perhaps they are just for variety? or is there a purpose? just a crazy question =)

I'd imagine it's there to make you think and realise that sometimes things aren't always crystal coated . . . to realise it's not a better item regardless of level u have to take time compairing the items . . .

so to sum it up it's just like that to make things more difficult which isn't a bad thing at all :P
