I think they went to a generator after that because when I got home my house was powerless. This was at 4pm lol. After 5 hours we decided to run down town and check it out. It's kinda funny when you see what was once fully illuminated constantly emerged in darkness. It was really eerie. The fire departments and police were crawling all over the town. Stop signs litered where traffic lights once were lit. Best part is the fair was in town, it was the only source of light in the whole town. Its a little past 5:30am now and my clocks are blinking about the same. I guess the power came on about 5 and a half hours ago. 4pm-12pm... 8 hours without power :'( I managed to light about 12 candles and read a little of a book... but overall I was sooo bored. I talked on the phone a bit (with a cord mind you :-/ - I was missing my cordless..) and finally went to sleep around 11. |

One thing that was pretty cool, I never noticed how people come together so much at times of crisis. We had neighbors giving all the little kids ice pops and stuff. It wasnt bad, thank god it was only a couple hours though. |

Well I woke up in the morning.. and guess what... power was gone again. Just came back up. Apparently the power is jumping all over town, we only have enough for 70,000 ppl and theres like a few mill in ottawa. So i dont know how long untill it goes out again. |

Yesterday I'm at my job (I'm a manager at a minor league stadium) and I'm fixing a fryer in the back when the lights to flickering. Then everything goes out. (little after 4pm) So I'm in the back with pitch-black. I thought it was just another stadium problem only to go outside and find that the problem kept on getting bigger (radio running on generator). The stadium treated it as a rain delay and held out to 8pm. So I got payed for sitting around for 4 hours. Yay to that. My house was extremely hot so I went outside for the night. Was like a ghosttown. It was awesome. ;) But I was so hungry and we had like no food and no stores were open. Not even 7-Eleven! I peeked in there and saw like 5 of them huddles around a candle. Anyway we got power back this morning and I shall return to my terrorizing of these domains! |
