Is the testing going to take like an hour or is it more likely to take quite some time?

Hope it doesn't end up like the Attribute Points, No news for ages and eventually gets cancelled.  ;D

I don't see the point in putting them in yet if they won't be ready within a few hours...just causes stuff like this for no reason.

Pacifist is definitely the coolest class. I hope they are put in fairly soon.

Edit: Need to ask a question. What about monsters attacking the Pacifist? It can be attacked but it can't attack back?

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Bill on 06/07/03 at 21:39:19
I'm guessing monsters would attack them or that would be too easy and i also assume the only stats they would need are dex, con, wis and char?

Yeah, Finally Nightmist has it's own Hippy Class. Just what we needed after the Nudist/Berserker Class.  ;)

They heal undead, but um, normal monsters, no idea. Probs wont attack them, as its good vs good.

the reason the box is on the roller now is so that no new client has to be released when the pacifist class is ready. i've spoken to pandilex, and he says 2 weeks tops. all that has to be done is balance it as best as possible given the type of character the pacifist is.

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Iria on 06/07/03 at 21:44:16
I hope that the addition of Pacifists will lead to more single-play classes.

What i dont get is why pacifist cant join party sounds kinda dumb to me

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Iria on 06/07/03 at 21:51:16
Parties get together for the common goal of destroying monsters or foes. Why would the Pacifist take part in this? If you don't party for that reason, your Pacifist could get a little exercise.

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Fire Starter on 06/07/03 at 21:54:20
ya i understand that but what if say a noob rolls one and and dont know where some place is or doesnt know how to get to Bt to lvl up then what

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by King o Sausage on 06/07/03 at 21:55:28
I don't see how not knowing anything has to do with partying....

Edit: Nevermind. Stupid "Ferry Parties"... Looks like the nOObs will have to do some exploring. Either on NM or on the internet to find map sites...

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Fire Starter on 06/07/03 at 21:55:30
and JLH said they could attacke the undead so they should be able to party to go do so

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?

If they don't know where something is then they could *Gasp, EXPLORE. Or get a map!

Then you learn. This game isn't about getting people to do everything for you. I know I learned the majority of what I know by myself. Newbs these days are just too lazy.

Wait wait wait.. People had a go at me for telling Bobble to go out and find something himself... And now, you're all saying, yeah, they are too lazy?

Sure, i may have been slightly ruder in the way i said it, but hey.

ya but what about attacking the undead

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by King o Sausage on 06/07/03 at 22:04:04
You can't attack anything. Only heal the undead for EXP.

Just a minor question, will they be able to go into the barrier forest/necro tower? since they must be of high religious status? and one other thing, omfg! I'll finally be able to get me some cheesecake, thank you so much JLH or Pandi whos ever idea it was to give them to randomly make cheesecake. I can see why my in game cheese post is no longer needed ^__^

Some people on the forums are just mean and lack common sense. Although the two situations you are comparing are very different, I understand where you're coming from.

Demonic Soldiers give 50 xp/ppd. You would not get 50*50 (2500) xp for each point of damage you do. It says on the update that this is for healing _players_ and that you would get 50*amount you healed for. So you heal someone for 50 points and you get 2500 xp.

I have a small question because either it wasn't stated clearly enough or I just missed it, but you are damaged by attacking a pacifist, do you and the pacifist both take damage? or is the pacifist immune to the attacks and they are simply repelled to yourself? just curious

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Bobbity on 06/08/03 at 07:59:32
Pacifists prolly aren't immune to attacks. Does the damaging yourself part apply to monsters aswell?

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?

ok just wondering (didn't read all replies) :d they are like clerics but can't be attacked wouldn't they replace clerics or is their only heal spell gonna heal less then what clerics do? (just read the update info and think i didn't read anything about aid but i forgot the formula used for healing so don't know how much they will be able to heal for :D)

edit: jsut remember the thing where it sais they can't join or create parties so they won't replace clerics but they sounds like the best option for healing at bosses :D)

Actually, I think this'll be the best class.. if not the best.. one of the best classes in game. We'll just have to wait and see when it comes into play!

Well the list of cons keeps on growing... why are they good again? We might have a competitor for the druid.

I guess rangers and druids are the only guys that can train with them (tracking them of course)

Well in my opinion, bring in the alt rule or these guys are toast.

The class is more focussed on roleplay than obtaining items and power which most of the game seems to have as its main objective.

Some people get fun from killing players and getting gold and better items, and some get fun from playing a character that can interact more and socialise :)

well said

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by Deval on 06/11/03 at 07:49:07

In that sense, Pacifists shouldn't be able to level, as socialising is the main reason for having the crit. It'd be wiser to introduce a 'Guest' function or the likes. It's a little bit of a contradiction tho, to say that it's a class more developed for the socially inclined, and yet not allow them to join parties.

Title: Re: When will Pacifist be open to rolling?
Post by dognapot on 06/12/03 at 18:12:06
i think what the pacifists are is 'cake'. just for those guys who felt that the freedoms of interacting with players who kill at thier own discretion was simply too restricting for thier roleplaying. now that we have it, we can see if you can eat it too.

first of all more roleplay YAY but how can it be more for socialising if it cant join parties and wouldnt a bard type class be more appropriate for this type pf thing because as far as i understand arent they meant to be an entertainer of sorts but then again its your game so do whatever you want still its just a thought.  :D

There's not much point in having a class if all they're going to do is socialise. Plus people can do that on any class anyway.

Not being able to part IS a huge inconvience, not only to the newbs, but just for training. I'm assuming they're main source of xp is going to be from healing, in a party they can be healing other players, plus how long do you think pacifists will survive roming around alone, even if other players cant attack them, what if they run into a group of monsters they cant attack? I think pacifists would be even harder to lvl then mages.  :-/

Nah, train in barracks at first, easy enough.. then when you get to a decent level go to museum, there you can kill them with no chance of dying. If you run out of mana just create 5 thieves, level them to 5 or whatever, and store mana on them. Seems easy to me.

Don't forget they can't party.

Too late ;p

Edit: Found another way ;p bring the thieves to the museum entrance in a party with a ranger or something, then throw all the mana north into the museum, then enter with the pacifist. Then go to the stairs to the next floor, throw up all your mana, then go back and pick up all the other mana. Repeat that untill you have no mana left, then go up the stairs and train, when your out of mana just go and pick it up :D Only problem is is that some bugger might steal yer mana lol
