Title: Game-links
Post by Outsider on 06/01/03 at 08:26:10
Pandilex says:

Anyone posting links to online games where the objective is to lure people into clicking a link will have their forum account deleted, and their IP address banned. They will also be reported to the game's site (you'll notice 99% of these games have links to report people spamming on forums) which will probably result in your account being terminated from there.

Stop posting these links, or suffer the consequences. Yes I have reported people before.

He's telling us that we can't post links to other games,
but he's got a link to another game in his signature  :-/

Dire Realm isn't a game, it's a 'game designing team'...

And that game designing team would be ...um...JLH and Pandilex...if you go to that site, you will see it has a link to NightMist on it *giggles*

Strata - http://Strata.DireRealms.com

Strata is an upcoming futuristic game, based in a world that may exist in our futures. It combines vast technological advances with the problems of overpopulation, food shortages, drugs and crime. It is a game designed for players over the age of 18, as it contains themes which are not suitable for minors.

For more information about this game, visit the Strata webpage: http://Strata.DireRealms.com

Looks like a game to me  ::)

Hmm, who makes this game and forum rules? I believe Pan and JLH do, and if they wanted to break every single rule they've made for this game, they can if they want.

Reason? Because it is theirs not yours.. They can do what they please regardless of what anyone says, because its theirs..

And does this forum/game have anything to do with the goverment? I think not..

He was using that as an example, if you had as many brain cells as you seem to think you do then you'd have realized that. I agree that they can break any rule they want, when they want, but breaking a rule that there trying to enforce doesn't seem like a very good idea to me.

I did realized that moron... I was basically saying towards the end, that this is far from anything like that as he was useing for an example.

isn't this about games where you have to click a link so someone else gets more points and stuff? like that mafia game?

Quote:
Nightmist Online was the first online game developed by JLH and Simon Crowder of Nightmist Online Development and Dire Realms Entertainment.

The project was started in august/september time of 2000, and has been under constant development and improvement since then. Steadily it has attracted more players, and is now become a very successful online game.

For all information about Nightmist Online, you should see the Nightmist Online Website: http://www.Nightmist-Online.co.uk

This site is all from JLH and Pandilex. They can advertise their game-designing site if they want to.  As oblivion said, they make the rules, they can break the rules. Just like the saying "If I can make you, I can break you."

I find it hilarious how he notes 'http://www.nightmist-online.co.uk' as an other game.

It's like Nightmist isn't that important anymore? 2nd priority?

It is indirect.  The link is to a development team.  Showing affialation with that team, not what it has on its site.  If I link to ign.com on my site am I affialating myself with their sponsors?  No, I am not.

Nightmist and any games I make under the name of Dire Realms will wind up running on the same server... They are not in competition with each other. The laws do not apply to Dire Realms because I own it... I thought that much was obvious  ::)

Just another example of the growing stupidity found in the nightmist players today.

Title: Re: Game-links
Post by Outsider on 06/02/03 at 23:02:49
The growing stupidity is actually players flaming other players for no reason, give me a good reason (like Pandilex just did) and i dont mind at all i was just wondering and made this thread....

The strict fact of its their games and sites, why not advertise them should be good enough logic for your common sence to kick in before posting such drabble.

Of course we are, giving you tips and pointers how to improve your common sence. Dont think of it as flaming...think of it more as constructive critisism  ;D

'Anyone posting links to online games where the objective is to lure people into clicking a link will have their forum account deleted, and their IP address banned. They will also be reported to the game's site (you'll notice 99% of these games have links to report people spamming on forums) which will probably result in your account being terminated from there.
'

I think the origonal post in off topic is VERY badly worded..

from websters:
Lure : Something that tempts or attracts with the promise of pleasure or reward.

Spam : Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

Both of these imply something BAD is happening, when you are in fact talking about something that is GOOD. Telling someone about a game is hardly luring them and it certainly isnt spam.

A suitable reword might be 'Anyone posting about other online games they play will have their account deleted/ip banned'

If noone ever tells people what games are out there it is impossible to find out about them, and no new players will ever come into the game. I myself learnt about nm from a post in another forum by Pandilex
