Ok I am trying to find the best class for a Druid and I really can't choose between Halfings and Elves.

Halflings get +2 to dex, so they avoid more and hit more ( useful with the mana drain weapon )

Elves get + 2 to Wis giving them more MPs and making their spells somewhat stronger. They also get +2 Cha, but I doubt it matters

Halflings get + 7 AC.

Elves get +5% damage in forests, which is nice because Druids often stay in forests.

So, what do you think is the best choice ?

Depends on how you're going to use the druid, as you say. If you're going to use weapons and hit alot halflings are better.

How are halfing druids "crap" ? They only have 2 less wisdom than their Elf counterpart, but they have +2 dex and +7 ac.

Halfling druids Are the best in my opinion, Not cause They are better, just cause I like them more. :P

I like my halfling druid, then again I haven't really tried a high lvl Elf Druid, but I would assume that for dueling/fighting purposes a halfling would be better.

yeah I kind of figured out the same, high wis doesn’t seem so good in duel/fights especially when druids get a mana leach weapon anyway.

As far as I can tell +1 wisdom equates to +1 damage on the offensive spells, so halfings aren't at too much of a loss. I went halfling for the third time now because I knew I wanted to train it via normal attacks and with 21 dex and the most armour out of all the races, they kinda don’t get touched. Plus if you look to the future you can still be having 21 dex on a halfling even with Boots of time and an amulet of the Lich(or 22 if you go AoH)… and with the normal SGs and CRs that’s some serious armour…
In my mind you just can’t have enough dex in this game.

I own a human (Sylvanis) 19 18 19 19 18 19
a halfling (Reese) 18 19 21 18 18 18
and an elf (Furion)18 20 19 18 20 18

...... and to be honest i like the human best lol. Its getting the best hp, which is something druids need badly, usually they get very low hp.

I have two human druids myself and am quite happy with both of them, never had any other race for a druid yet though so I don't know what the others would be like

I make halflings, because its fun to imagine a halfling running around calling the wrath of the storms, and turning itself into stone :P

I went for elf because they get better hp than halflings, there spells are better (+2 wis) and the 4 stat halfling I had seemed kinda crap.

I'm sorry but elves DO NOT get better hp than halflings. Elves get 18 con and so do Halflings. If anything Halfling have the most defense because of their 21 dex.

yeah I sure know a lot.

Halflings get 18 con
Elves get 18 con
Therefore they get the same HPs

God it sure took a lot of testing and experiencing to come to this revolutionary conclusion ::).

Humans are easily the best Druids. Druids have requirements that draw from almost every stat, therefore, it would make sense to have a race with a good balance. The human has better strength than both races, better wisdom than the halfling, better constitution than both, a little less dex, which is compensated for with benefits over two important stats.

Trust me, elves get better hp than halflings, this is what my druids got:

Level 25 elf, 18 con 230-240 hp (Cant remember the exact hp)
Level 25 halfling, 18 con 210-220 hp (Same again lol)

Same con, yet the halfling got worse hp (and mp)

I would have to agree there, halflings just dont seem to cut it on the hp gains. I reset my new druid 3 times now and just when it was looking better, it still ended up with crap hp at lvl 19.

I think Halfling druids are worse than Human druids. The dex bonus just isn't good enough (for druid). The racial armor bonus... The more wisdom you got, the more effective armor spells get... So basically the armor halflings get isn't important, elves get basically the same bonus armor in spells. Druids need a lot of mana, because they depend a lot on their spells / abilities.

Now lets compare Human to Elf. Elf has +2 char, that means he heals more. And he also has +1 wisdom, that means he gets more mana and most of his spells are more effective. +Damage in Forests is great. If you inflict 60 damage it gets boosted by 3 while in a forest. That means, when you fight a Black Bear and inflict 60 damage, you get 150 extra xp per hit.

Humans get +1 strenght and +1 constitution. The heal is worse (but it's not a main spell...) and all his spells are worse. But his fighting skills are better. A bit more hp, and a bit more damage. I think the racial bonus for elves increases damage as well, so it's not that important. The hp is quite important, but elves have improved armor spells (not much but a bit) and more mana, and that means they take less damage. Human's racial bonus isn't relevant at the momment.

I personally prefer Elves. They are better than the others (my opinion).

your post is very interesting. However, are you sure the extra wisdom of Elves really makes armor spells more effective ? If so, how effective are Elven armor spells compared to Human or Halfling ?

So far you did not bring a single argument to the discussion. All you said is “Elves are better because I say so” and that won’t convince anyone.

Furthermore, the opinions on the subject are quite devised. People like Deval and Valeska argue that Humans are the best druids, others like Zephie and Pile claim that Halfling are better ( at least in some situations ) while other like Norinth state that Elves are the best. As you can see, Horror, the “We” that you used in your own post sure doesn’t represent the majority of the people here. In fact only 3 people ( you, Norinth, and wonderful_nightmare ) believe that Elves are the best druid, and out of the three only Norinth used coherent arguments.

As such your arrogance is totally unjustified and your assumption about me are ridiculous. May I suggest you to leave this thread if you have nothing worthwhile to contribute to the discussion.

Armor spells are based totally on Wisdom. For example, Stoneskin and Thornshield give you Wisdom*2 and Wisdom armor (or at least it used to be, I always use elves with 20 wis). That means that with 18 wis (halfling) you would get 18*2=36 armor and with Elf you would get 20*2=40 armor. Gaea's Blessing also works with wisdom, I think it's Wisdom*1.5 (Not totally sure, but I think it is this way), that means halfling would get 27 and Elf would get 30. 4+3=7 ac. Elven druids get the same ammount of bonus armor as halflings after casting armor spells, therefore the racial bonus is not that important for halflings.

Humans get 3.5 less armor than Elves (armor spells).

This proves my theory that Elves are the best druids.

Well heres something you can consider, my lvl 24 druid with 16 18 18 18 19 12, has 215hp and 205mp, max stormwrath that I have seen so far is 68 and he's faired against quite a few people, a little higher and lower then him in levels, so far I've gotten a total of 112 armor using stoneform and gaea's blessing, if you would like to know more, ask on the forums or memo Riff_Raff, the druid I was just talking about.

I haven't just said 'Elves are better because I say so' I also said why, in as much detail as I thought your brain could take. Obviously I was wrong. It was too much info.

Elves are better, imo at least, because they get more hp (Same con I know, but elves DO get better hp than halflings) Their armour spells are better, as are there damaging spells. I can't post any evidence because I sold them both, the halfling a few weeks ago, and the elf a week ago (Person I share with sold the elf, I wanted to keep him)
