Title: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by E_Mc2_Trooper on 05/01/03 at 05:41:30 First of all. I got this approved from JLH, so no bugging me about it. If you want to bug me, run into a wall, I hate people I don't know running into walls. Anyways, I've played Nightmist, on and off, since well, Old Nightmist. Anyways..... I got this approved, and am wondering if I could get some advice about the Starcraft Map thing, or just Nightmist's map in general. Thanks! |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Rappy_Ninja on 05/01/03 at 22:30:55 I get what he means ::) he is trying to say that he wants to make a nightmist map in starcraft's map editer RPG style (you would get what I am saying if you played a ff3 rpg map or any other map like it) only prob is how long and how many triggers it would take :o I could try to help :-/ not sure how you would do the levels (maybe by every so many kills you get 1 $ and you can upgrade your skills/armor/weapon just a thought :) ) |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Bean on 05/02/03 at 01:12:18 Its called a use map setting map. You can name the units different things like for example make zerglings berserkers, and marines could be rangers, Clerics would of course be medics. And so on like that. Then you set the triggers in the map, Like when you have so much exp you go to a certain area on the map and it will advance you to the next level *Id guess one unit for every ten levels* How I would do the levels is from 1-10 you get say 1-2 mins per level, Then at ten you also get an additional new unit replacing the old one. And so on at 20 and 30. You could do Items just like the Diablo 2 advanced maps. Like if you buy leather armor, Your character becomes invincible and the unit *For example leather armor=probe* Would appear near your guy and follow him around *Would have to set a trigger so that if he gets so far away he is teleported back to the hero* When the unit is killed you become mortal again and can be killed. And for weapons just make air units as weapons, and have them follow the hero around in the same fashion as armor, The weapons of course would attack any units near, as well they would be invincible. Spells could be done almost exactly like ANY other RPG map in the game, Just download a few and pick them apart to see how its done. THAT is how you would make a nightmist type map. Although You would have to make an end to it somewhere. :-/ People tend to hate starcraft maps that dont end ;) |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Bean on 05/02/03 at 23:10:54 LMAO! PALLYS AS DARK TEMPLARS. Oh and someone made an everquest map a while ago, and people have made D&D maps. Its not hard, Its simply tedious. The end result is very enjoyable though |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Bean on 05/02/03 at 23:12:54 For any who DONT know what a dark templar is here is a brief descrition kinda. It is a unit that is permenantly invisible from the time it is created. It uses a blade about.... 2 feet long to attack things. Its got high damage, little health, little shields and it has little health as well. Who thinks that better suits a thief? |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by newb on 05/02/03 at 23:19:47 Berserkers shouldn't have any armor, just like Nightmist. As for lvl ups, armor, attack, hp and mp could be added where applicable. The whole items/weapons as other units thing sounds kinda ridiculous. |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by E_Mc2_Trooper on 05/03/03 at 01:47:17 Eh? The Berserker got no armor? Ah, well, I'll add that in... As I haven't played 'em yet... But I no have expac... If I had it I would build it on that.... :( I guess I'll just have to buy Brood War.... *Sigh* :-/ |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Rappy_Ninja on 05/03/03 at 16:06:21 always make the ghost do alot of damage as they never do full damage :-/ like if dam is 9999 they will do about 4000 it gets cut in half :o + they attack slow so make them do more then other classes ::) |

Title: Re: The Starcraft "Nightmist" Map! Post by Bean on 05/03/03 at 22:32:47 They only do partial damage to Heavy armor so units like Tank Goliath Wraith Pretty much any mechanical unit, which makes up like 3/4 of nightmist units. Lol and they only do 1/4 damage to heavy armor... which is a mega bummer |
