Title: Serious question here.
Post by Sanctuared on 04/17/03 at 05:27:34
I am really trying to understand how most of you stay with this game for so long?  Here I have played before the reset, it was fun back then, everyone got a long.  Not to mention I was acctually a good player.  I'm really sick of all the negative attitudes and not being able to make more then 3 friends.  It isn't fun to me, I don't know how you all have played so long and gotten so udderly powerful.  Such as Jen, if your reading this... How have you put up with it so long?  I can't play this game for more then an hour before I start to want to quit because of lack of help, companions, and fun.  Yes, I try to explore new areas and become better, I would not be rambling on if I had not given it a very hard try.  Every time I actually find good new areas, or get anywhere in the game.. Bam! A group of incredibly good characters annhilate my entire party with one swift blow each.  I can't see how anybody can get anywhere in this game anymore the correct way (not paying someone IRL for their crits).  I've been trying for a very long while now, most of you would probably say I have gotten no where.  Where did this game take such a strange turn?  Are there no decent, helpful, and fun people out there who still play?!  Help me ou here as to how you all have been playing so long without ripping your eyes out in negativity.

I just try to ignore the bad and have as much fun as I can,  I havea 6 year old niece who whines alot too, so I just try to remember most the people who do have same age mentatlity.

That is a good method, although flawed.  If you ignore everyone (He's the problem, erm... everyone), then whats the point of playing?

There are many people who I do not ignore and love to chat with.  Theyare the ones who do not take every action as a personal insult, and get upset over minute things.

I didn't start playing Nightmist until right after reset but yeah, I liked Nightmist way better back then. I think it was because most people only used one character. I think people only using one char at a time a whole lot better.

I agree, I hate this multi alts rubbish, and I use it only out of necessity, cus if u don't now, u get owned, at a maximum I will be seen using perhaps 3. Way back when, each persons name meant something to them, perhaps a warped sense of pride? Today, skill in Nightmist is measured by whoevers PC can handle the most crits at one time.

it's funny, i never had that problem. i have a fair amount of friends on this game, a fair amount of success, and a fair amount of power. that's not mentioning the crazy amount of age i have in this game (there's older than me, but fewer every week). despite all that i've never felt like throwing in the towel because of anything that happens on this game, but that may be because the game has changed very little to me since i started. more people, same business.

but where did this game take such a strange turn? the 'strange turn' has been a point of interest to me for quite some time now. the 'strange turn' is the by-product of a good game with a lively community. it attracts more people than the original player-base can keep track of. before the 'strange turn' it's fair to say that most people knew most everyone else pretty well. i mean hell, there's only 30 of you; it's only a little bit larger than your history class (if your in america it's smaller). so when say the population doubles from 30-40 to 80-100 in less than 6 months it's safe to say your not going to keep getting to know every new face, but you'll still kill them and they'll still kill you. i think that's the 'strange turn'.

No, I'll kill them, and then they'll sit in Aralin Tavern :P

Links help in this game.

Lesse, when I started, I had no fame, no success, and no good crits, and I still don't :E All I do is log on for an hour or 3 a week and sit in arlin tavern or arlin gates with Dinin, and Dinin isn't even my char :/

If it weren't for ICP I would have quit this game along time ago, he's the one that originally got me into TR and any decent char's. Then eventually I quit and gave him all my stuff because I found something else, but yea, having atleast one good friend in this game helps.

Well I have resisted the urge to quite Nightmist too, and go back to games like Vagabond's Quest...but I have friends in this game, I meet new ppl everyday and since im Anti-Pker most ppl get along with me becuase i won't kill them right off the bat, and I only use one crit at a time, unless im in a areana lvling up my alts which then i use three of them a fighter, thief, and cleric.

But when im outside the areanas Im using only one crit, mostly Mangler my lvl 21 Fighter, ok crit was given to me by FÆR Elite....I think the 1 to 3 crit max is a good idea

Yes. That is "fun" they say. I think that is the problem in Nightmist. Nightmist is great game (I haven't found better yet.. I still seeking), but there are TOO MANY pkers ingame and they spoil whole game. It is like Unreal Tournament in outside of cities, not real rolegame. Perhaps I'm wrong what comes about rolegaming or not... :P
