Title: Possible solution to all these staff issues
Post by newb on 03/31/03 at 20:37:27
Alright, even now, after posting several threads on staff unfairness and the such, I still retain my opinions and what I know about these situations. However, the amount of accusations and general player unhappiness is beginning to worry me. I found that after a good talk with Zephie about an issue that was at hand, that the problem had been solved and that in the end, the rules won. I preferred this much more than getting bashed in front of others for what I so "wrongfully" did. In that case, I felt how a current staffer might. I believe that with an open mind and a good talk with the staff members that you think are doing a poor job or are unfair, many of these issues can be resolved. Although there is the problem of these staff members not being available or persay not telling the whole truth. But I myself would definitely like to have a good discussion with the staff members that I have problems with or issues that seem unfair or wrong. Nothing is getting solved the way things are going now and if it continues like this, this great (not to mention free) game of Nightmist will go to ruins. Now for the staff members, you have to be willing to do this. Uncloak and let people talk to you, yes this includes Pandilex and JLH! These isses which have so many people outraged might be solved if they can just be talked out.

hmm isn't it just normal that you talk about a problem with someone ebfore you start insulting them and stuff on the forum? or am i say'n weird things now? and if staff won't "decloak" jsut send them an e-mail to solve the issue.

Many emails go unaswered unfortunately. I am still waiting for mine from Pandilex after a week. Also. alot of people don't get a chance to talk about how they feel with a staff member. I know that I don't. The majority of the time that I want to talk to staff, they are either, cloaked, logged or don't answer my yells/pages. This being the problem that it is, staff ingame should change their attitude towards answering yells/pages and being uncloaked more often to talk instead of ignore.

If you want to get your questions answered, the simplest and most efficient way is to send an email to either JLH or Pandilex with a list of questions. Don't scrammble up these questions in between threats or accusations, just a nice simple list.

Also, if you would like to share your opinions with a player(one reason to do so is so that you don't have to worry about getting banned for expressing yourself), I would be glad to talk to you about it. I'm interested in these issues and would like to know exactly how others feel so I can get a better understanding for what's going on. I don't want my opinions based on the jealousy or hate or rumors of others. I won't talk to you if you just want to tell me they suck, I want to have an honest conversation about what they have personally done to you and/or why/what you think these issues need to be solved.

Page/memo me on Newb I get on at about 6 PM EST

Maybe you should set up your own nightmist shrink's office. ;)

I'm no shrink, i'm just trying to get people to see that all these accusations on the forums will do no good. A nice, realtime conversation would allow people to express how they feel better and to get the staff member's honest opinion on what is going on.

Sounds like a plan! How about it Si, me and you have a good ol' chat in game? Possibly someone as a mediator?  :-*

i could mediate, sounds like fun.

also, i'm surprised no one has suggested or attempted any of the best solutions. for example, invite your acquaintance to a fancy dinner at your home. by the end of the meal both parties will be so stuffed they may not remember what the quarrell was about. that's when it's time for the ol' fork in the eye! (may work without the 'fork in the eye'). a huge caligula like orgy could do wonders to solve nightmist's problems and let's not leave out the possibility of a ten-pace-draw duel to solve two person disputes.

Dont forget inviting them to help you test out your new torture devices in the dungeon, Or to a game of molten lava diving

*Lol Just in case no one detects the sarcasm, I assure you its there* All in good fun  ::)

No thanks, you've proven your immaturity, enough words have been said.

Please try not to reply with anything abusive because if it violates the forum ToS you will be banned.

Have a nice day!

If maturity is such an issue, why not just say 'there's nothing else to talk about', instead of calling someone immature?

Seems immaturity is wide-spread in these parts...

Immaturity?? Where Where? I do not see any I mean all this is smart get a PLAYER without ALL COSMIC POWER to help people. A real person who's job is to help settle fights and help out others -cannot cloak and is on when is on (has to be at least a little)- we could get a few of these. A few jokes chucked into a post is perfectly natural and inteligent.

Silver your ranting showed immaturity quite finely.  As for staff not being cloaked, of my week of being staff I think I have only been cloaked a total of maybe an hour or 2, but even when I am if I see a yell I go.  So I would appreciate you not stereo typing staff, beings all of us are different.  Thanks, Aidon

I have to agree with Aidon not all staff are bad. be it some have attitude but considering having to run all over to correct things they should hire on admin to just run and take care of things like trades and or ToS complaints. and let the "Dungeon people" and the "Area Developers" do thier work.

Aidon is a great staffer. I asked him once in friend chat if I could talk to him Poof he appeared and scared the crap outta me. and he and I spent 15+ minutes talking about a problem which was btw worked out ty Aidon  :-*

Instead of bashing promote the idea of new staff set for things example I applied as well for staff.. but I would love to come on and see <Staffname> "Public Relations" for what they do to help just the general populus of Nightmist and let those that have other jobs do them so there will be no complaints of ppl getting fired from "Area Developement" because they were helping and doing other things like answering pages/watching trades.

/rant off heh
