I changed my mind. Evil Kingdom/Castle redone

A long time ago, not too long after the second mist came, a young prince by the name of Xander started his kingdom in a lush forest. Although without knowing it, he began to build close to the beginning of something evil, something that was turning the forest dark. Starting out as a small town, adventurers would come and stay the night at the local inn and tell tales to the locals. Years pass and the town has grown into a medium sized city where people come from all around the world to trade goods and go on adventures. With the city almost after several years, the former young prince, now old enough to be considered the king, has a castle built, and in honor of his family name, it is christened Castle Zama(just an idea, a bunch of people said it would be cool). The kingdom is flourishing, and all is well. But lurking in the forest is the evil from years past, claiming the forest and filling it with its undead slaves. The villagers lately have been sensing its presence and have been being bothered by more monsters than usual. Even the king has noticed the disturbances and fears for his people. A week, later, his wife is struck ddead by a sudden illness and the king falls into a pit of despair. The evil, seeing its chance, attacks the town with its minions and takes over the city and castle. The people are taken prisoner and are twisted, both mentally and physically, by the foul creatures that captured them. The king however, suffered the most. He was taken directly to the evil itself and his soul permanently scarred. The evil now uses him as a body for his motives. His figure deformed and grotesque, this new king of evil has only one goal. To help his master destroy the world of Nightmist. The warped townspeople now serve as the kings's personal army, training day in, day out, to become strong enough to one day claim the world. Descriptions Outside Castle Zama enter: The forest has been cut back by the villagers for years, but the trees seem to grow before your eyes. look: Many of the branches look hand shaped, waiting to grasp you if you get too close. In the city enter: You are walking along the dark, stone streets of the once bustling city. The air is stale and the wind is silent. All around you are the whispers of unseen things. look: You see figures moving before but cannot make them out. They look as though they are just wisps in the hollow breeze. You look up to see the sky, but it is so cloudy and gray, you wonder if it is even there. Castle Gates enter: The huge, wooden doors of the castle stand before you. Guarded by the elite members of the king's army, you see them glare at you as they approach. look: The gate looks as if it will collapse from the rot any second now crushing your attackers. You see something catch your eye from the corner. The answer must be inside. Inside the Castle - 1st Floor enter: The cold, gray stone seems unfriendly. The walls around you feel as though they have eyes. look: You see several collapsed pillars lying broken on the ground. Walking around them seems best. Nobody knows what creatures may emerge from the stone. Some of them Look as though they have just been thrust up from under the ground. Inside the Castle - Dungeon enter: You can barely see anything. The only light in the room is coming from the door that seems so far behind you. look: You hear moans coming from deeper down the hallway. The cells here contain no bodies whatsoever. The room is stained with blood and you see several instruments lying on the ground. Unsure of what they are, you decide to leave them alone. Inside the Castle - Parapet/Garrison enter: You are not sure if the stone wall here is to protect the defenders or trap the invaders. Either way, you are unsure about the slipery stone beneath your feet. look: Over the stone wall you see the city. A black mass of buildings with several creatures milling about. You imagine the view was once breathtaking, but realize it will never be that way again. Inside the Castle - 2nd Floor enter: The lavish decorations of this room are strewn beneath your feet. You cannot get over the feeling that it is supposed to look this way. look: The ground here is much easier to walk on. Perhaps it is because your steps are softened by the numerous family banners that litter the floor. The sculptures seem to look at you with their carved eyes. Inside the Castle - The King's Lair enter: The air in here is so thin and cold, it is a pain to breathe. Dust coats everything in a thick layer. look: The long hallway seems to go on forever. You are compelled to press on as you see something move up ahead. Glimmers from somewhere make you feel unsafe, as if monsters from the shadows are drawing their swords. Inside the Castle - Throne Room enter: You are confronted by the Evil King. He stands up from his throne and looks you in the eyes, penetrating into your soul. look: Darkness envelopes you as you try to fight the King. You hope you are not the next broken skeleton you see lying on the floor. These are descriptions that could be used in the area. I think maybe some of are too self-based, but even though, i think they are very good. They strike a sense of fear into the player. Monsters would include skeletons, Dark Knights, various posessed animals ie bears, snakes and spiders. Would be in the Forest of Souls. Preferably close to a region of Triken Forest. You can contact me on AIM at VinzcentXS or my email: GilbertMSD@hotmail.com I have showed it to several friends and they were thrilled by it. I hope this has some sway on you because they play NM and for the players to like an idea so much, it must be nice . Edit: I typed this one up like at 2 am in 40 minutes. If its off in any way or just looks dumb, let me know. Edit 2: altered escs

The descriptions need a bit more. Enter descriptions should be like.. "You have entered the guard tower blah blah" and look should be something like "As you look around you see the guard tower is blah blah". Have you made a map? Send it to my e-mail if you have.

How about we not turn this into a flame post. Valentine, I think you could of put that comment into better words, in its current context it could be taken badly (And it has). Anyway, Everyone knows I am the easiest person in Nightmist . [Move along.. nothing to see people] No Matter.. newb get back to work ! Just redo the descriptions a bit to fit the guidelines, make a story/plot of the area and a map. Go ahead and post the story on this post for future players to read and ‘understand’ the area a bit more. But send the map to me and don’t give it out.

Heh, I am at school. I've been working on my area during my free time in classes. I also did a bunch of maps. Unfortunately, they are all by hand and on graph paper :S. But nevertheless, they are pretty good. I'm gonna try to get the majority of the castl and surounding area mapped out today. I guess I should work on the descriptions though, they seem to be more important. I could either just take a picture of my graph paper or remap on the computer /sigh. Matt, Jen or whoever, tell me which you would prefer so I can get a head start. I am willing to put in a lot of work on this area to get it done and implemented into the game with the highest quality. I have many other ideas which I would like to work on, but have decided to take it one at a time. Any staffers tha would like to keep track of my progress and efforts of this area, leave me a message on the forums or in game with your email. Thanks ~Newb

Got the first floor done, i'm gonna map out the second floor today. I might redo the outside area too, I made it way too big. I'll also work on some more of the descriptions. Was working on some yesterday, but then my teacher kicked me out because the period was over, heh. But anyways, i'm coming along with my area nicely and i am planning on having a rough draft of the whole area done in a few days. Also I have to make alot more descrips, but no prob, I like making them. Geez, i've turned into some kind of area developing fiend. I hear how much of a pain it is to do all the gridding, but I wouldn't mind /shrug. Oh well, off to school.

Woot, got floor 2 done. I'll map it on the computer when I get home. I'll probably get floor 3 and/or the dungeon done tomorrow. Also I will put in more descrips on the site and possibly some more monsters.

Yay, I got floor 3 done. Basically, i'm gonna say what I did in the post above, so I won't repeat myself. With this nice 5 day weekend coming up, i'm still gonna be working on the area and hope to get alot more done. As far as all the mapping is concerned, there's only about 3-4 more areas and I think I will have a complete draft of it mapped out. ~Newb

I took a break over my enjoyable 5-day weekend and slacked off on working on the area(who wouldn't?). I'm gonna finish mapping it out by tomorrow and put in more descriptions and more monsters. ~Newb

I'm still willing to work with you. Show you the grid commands etc.. You will just have to e-mail JLH the final offline mapper product for him to check over and put in. Unless you want a 'real' staff to work with. It's all good

Still looking for someone to work with me on this. As I have stated before, the majority of mapwork is done and I have a ton of descrips. I guess the main issues would be to revise the descriptions and make monsters.

So what's the status on this area, have you found someone to work with you? Have you worked with the offline developer?

I haven't found anybody to work with me yet. The offline developer is weird on my computer so I just make maps with paint.
