Ok, I have a two-computer network going on here. One computer has WinXP(Thats the server computer) and one computer has Win98(Thats the computer having the problems). Now, I can log on just fine with the computer with WinXP, but when I try to log on with the computer that has Win98 it will let me go to the Account Setup part, but when I click on a character to play itt freezes on that. Now I log in because When I go to the computer with WinXP and log in It shows that I am logged in. Also, I can't view the website on my Win98 computer. Anyone ever have this sorta problem before?
To free up some time, Ive tried disabling the firewall, and I've tried reinstalling it too, and I've tried regsvr32 richtx32.ocx.

2 tell us what software are you using to run internet to the second machine
give as much detail about how the computers are hooked up together i.e. dose ur xp machine have to nic's? are u runing it threw a peralal?

By software do you mean like Internet Explorer or Netscape? or what?
I use Internet Explorer, My ISP is Alltel, and I use whatever WinXP uses to setup a network. (I was trying to use Sygate before when I was trying to network the winxp to the win98 but it was easier to just network the win98 to the winxp)
Yes my WinXP has 2 NICs.
One thing when, I put the DSL on my computer ( Win98 ) it lets me go on the site and play the game normal. Im thinking there might be something wrong with my network but the thing is, it only doesn't let me play Nightmist heh.
Also the Cable that goes from the WinXP to the Win98 is just a crossover cable, no hub or switch or router.
The one NIC that the DSL is hooked up to has a USB port on it too, would it make a differance if I changed the connection from the moden--XP machine to USB instead of using the CAT5 cable?

no do not use a usb cable that just causes more trouble. but from what I read there it dosn't look like you have any internet software I.E. a proxy software that allows your computer to acess the next so can the 98 machine get web sites? you said that u can log onto ur acount but not play I belive so there is some type of communacations going on?
did you go into your network propertys and bridge connection? as to put the two together?

using ethernet (cat5) is the best way of networking, i assume you told one of the network cards to share it's network connection?

JLH-No it wont load the Nightmist site. The screen is White and it says Done at the bottom. Yes I told one to share its network connection

Some sort of network issue, but the fact that it lets you log into the account manager and no further confuses me.

well it might be easyer if u where runing both box's on xp becuse its plane to see the one port that isn't working is the game port and I guess u can try and configure the bridge connection option?

in windows xp, the bridge itself (on the server) has an ip address, (virtually, this ip is the ip of the connections making up the bridge), and any data sent in through 1 end goes straight out the other.
the reason why a bridge can't (normally) bridge a lan connection and a wan connection together is because the bridge would need to get an ip from the isp, and therefore be (usually) on dhcp. when it gets a routable internet ip, the other machine on the lan would also need an ip to get on the net, and unless your isp allocates you multiple ip addresses, when it attempts to get an ip from the cable modem/dsl router, the device won't give it one, and the lan machine(s) won't be able to get net access.
in windows xp (and 2000, and 98 to an extent), to share the net connection, you "share" your wan connection (which gets an internet routable ip) via NAT to your lan connection, which runs on 192.168.x.x typically.

its posably becuse of a Ip issue you need to network ur computers not daisy chain them wich means u need to get a router that works with dsl this is the best way to resovle the problem becuse you are runing 2 computers with 1 IP from the sound of it and your isp isn't gona like that so if u get a router u can still have only 1 ip adress and the 2 computers would have network ip adress

Also I want to know something, I checked the NICs and it seems when I put the second NIC in it installed the same driver for the one that was already in there, could that possibly be the problem? I have the driver for it but I havent installed it yet. It says something about it not being a WindowsXP Driver or something, i believe the driver is set for windows 95, 98, NT, and ME.
