Clerics using 2 shields.

I think it would be a cool addition to the game if clerics were able to use 2 shields. Some clerics are trained specifically to be healers, so have no use for a weapon. A roleplayer may level a cleric for the sole perpose of being a healer, and so would want to give up his weapon to give himself a better chance of surviving battle while healing others. This would give players the choice of either sacrificing a weapon to gain more armor, or sacrificing less armor to gain the ability to attack.

That could be done also, if the staff are willing to create some double shields.

i suppose we already have tower shields that don't take both hands, but isn't what we're getting at here the purpose of a tower shield? to shield a person entirely when they aren't going to attack? as for two shields, wouldn't it make sense to use two bracers? this is still an rpg isn't it?

I like the idea. thats the sole purpose of my healer and having a weapon on her is useless. As for it being bracers, bracers wouldn't hinder you from carrying a shield. But a tower shield that would take up both sides for the shield and weapon would definately be interesting and useful for those who's cleric's sole purpose is healing. At least it would make sense to me.

If you won't use a weapon don't buy one...As for the 2 shields thing, thing about that, it would definatley hinder your healing capabilites, having to work around 2 shields...Most cleric's sole purpose is to heal, you don't normaly see a cleric running around in the forest beating up bears...they heal demonic soldiers. A tower shield might be nice though...

Ok, I'm totally against this, actually it's bordering on an eight letter word beggining with 'r'. A common argument versus stronger armour for magicians in this game is magic interferrance due to equipment, and aside from that, I think the idea is quite far fetched, even without the aid of preconceptions from other fictional sources. I'm relatively sure that a little more would be required to cast a healing spell other than simply 'looking' your party members, and clerics already have awesome healing spells as is, let alone do they need any other self preservation materials. Meanwhile, I'd be stunned if a spell caster had the brunt physical strength to effectively use two shields, or an oversized shield in the first place, especially whilst weaving magic. Also, why on earth would a cleric be wielding a tower sheild when elite warriors such as paladins and fighters don't even essentially have such an item? What is being suggested is removing a mostly useless ability on a cleric, attacking, and replacing it with something that does not balance out in comparison to what they lose and what they gain. No offense, but the idea is just plain stupid.
