I believe that there should be some sort of... potions... you could use to make your weapon to have poison damage on it for a short time. like for example:
Price: 5k
Item: Weak poison concauction
desc: Adds 30% chance of causing a poison condition. Lose 5 hp per tic once poisoned. last for 2 hours
Maybe a special Alchemy Shop that sells the poison.

poison doesn't have to be long lasting or damaging to be effective. Make it so that when poison, your fighting abilities (or healing whatever) decreased. It make sence because ..well ..lol...anyone ever try fighting other people after getting a food poison...or getting sick... or even beer poisoning (wonder what that call) bitten by a spider or sting by a bee...anyway..you get the point. all your stat...decrease a bit..depend on how serious the poison is.
