After reading sadistic criminals thread on the leaving forum, i thought of this.. he was saying about how when you say to an enemy/neutral clan in a training place (museum, desert etc) "Dont kill me?" "Sure, I wont kill you if you dont kill me" or whatever.. i myself on numerous occassions got sick of this

what if there could be a command like /truce player that would enable a 10minute nopk for that party? it would work similar to the trade system

/truce <leader of party>
You offer a 10minute truce between your party and <player>'s party
If this is correct type /confirm.
<player> has offered a 10minute truce between his/her party and your party. Type /accept <player> to accept the truce.
You accepted <player>'s Truce.
<Player> accepted your Truce.
You have 10minutes remaining on your Truce with <player>'s party
You have 9min...etc.
Your truce with <player>'s party has expired.

the reason that i say this and not use /nopk, is because you see ppl(on occassion) do /nopk <your crits> and then when they have earned your trust they quickly find you, remove from nopk and kill you. Or they have coverted theives/druids/mages that they "forget" to put you on nopk (lol) I know its a bit sketchy, but just think about it.. for all those hard out trainers such as myself that hate pking(only because i cant yet Tongue), it would be great for them.. and for those ppl who are pkers... well they dont have to accept the truce do they? then you know to keep away/be weary of them

anyway get back to me on your thoughts.
cheers,
Seito

EDIT: forgot something

While I would love to see additional ways to deter PKing, I think there are some flaws to this proposal.  What happens if the party is disbanded?  What happens when individual characters join or leave the party?  It would seem that there are quick and easy ways to work around the proposed command... it would provide only a false sense of security.

as i said, its sketchy Tongue there could be someway around not getting everyone to truce, and im sure someone will come up with an idea.. this is just a first stage Tongue lol

The party cannot be disbanded untill the truce time is over, or untill you leave the game, but if the person logs off and back on, the person who they had the truce ON, will stillhave it on so they cannot backstab them.

Nopk runs until you can get back to town to take people off the list so why not just use that?

Nopk doesn't work because you don't know that they've actually put you on nopk.. but I think it should stay like that. Instead of a command for a truce it should be agreed to by the players- It may not be nice when someone goes against their word but you should still have the freedom to fool someone into nopk'ing you  Wink

But it says...

x has added you to his nopk list!

...so why would you not know?

If someone would be a big enough bastid to trick you into getting you to nopk them so they could kill you w/o you being able to attack-
1. They need to be PKed a lot.
2. You shouldn't have trusted them.

Indeed, but you should have to figure out who is worth trusting, not find out using a command.

No because it lasts for a period of time. And can't be removed.

It should be optional

/truce30mins name

/accepttruce

the time(optional).

Why not just have it say "X has removed you from thier nopk list." that way...you would know to run because they are about to kill you.  Or they are just doing it because there is 100 people on thier nopk that they don't know.

Heres why NOPK doesnt work

Player1: Ok true add eachother to nopk list
Player2: kk

(player1 screen) You have been added to Player2's nopk list.
(player2 screen) You were assassinated.

Just because one person adds you onto their nopk list doesnt mean the other will do the same , therefor making you defenseless , i think if you add someone onto your nopk list they should have to be able to accept or decline it therefore having both players on the nopk list untill returning to town or whatever.

I agree with the truce idea because of the idea of it. Heres what i reccomend.

Player1 has offered a nopk or whatever do you accept or decline? Type /accept player1 to accept or /decline player1.

This would eliminate the adding someone and then having them kill you.

one more thing, If your not in T.R. then there is no doubt about not trusting them , just flee and return at another time. Unless they happen to be your friend.

It already does say this so surely that solves the problem of people running to town and removing you as you know they have and know they are probably on their way to kill you?
