OK, I'd Like to get one thing outta the way first of all. YES this idea will probably be a great deal of coding for JLH if its ever considered, and YES it may take awhile to put in, BUT that doesnt mean its to be dismissed right away.
 
NPC DRIVEN QUESTS.
The whole Idea behind this is:
 
  • First off, the types of quests you can get will be decided by class *Of course*
  • Secondly, The quests will range in difficulty/rewards as you gain levels.
  • You will get easier quests with usefull rewards for your level, and will more often than not get an item that will help your character level.
  • There Is also a RANDOM chance you will trigger a higher end quest from lvl 20-30 that will require help from either alts, or other members of the game to complete. Sometimes even resulting in a splitting of the prize *If it were money*

 
Ok, so thats the BASE Ideas behind this quest system.
 
Now the quests will be grouped into three categories, Class quests, Race quests, and Purely level quests. For example.
 
Class Quests:
 
  • You go to your guild leader *Wherever you level up* And you say a key 'phrase' or 'word' to the guild master. You will recieve your first quest simply by sitting on the square until the NPC blurts a line that has a word Placed in the '[' ']' Brackets.
  • Depending on the quest you would have to go and do a variety of things. From killing a single monster, to slaughtering a whole army of enemies. Even running simple *Or maybe its NOT that simple! mwahahahah* errands for your guildmaster.
  • The rewards Would be dependant on only two things in the class quests. Your class *Duh...* And the difficulty rating of the quest *Would be in the code somewhere I assume*
  • These quests would ONLY be accessible to someone of the SAME class as you, so If you wanted to take a friend they would have to have a character of the same class.

 
Race Quests:
These would basically be quests you can get from an area where your race dwells. *Might not work with current map structuring so IF thats a problem Simply disregard this section*
 
  • Your a tired and weary elf, and as you stroll into this small elven outpost you decide to take a small break at the nearby inn, However when you enter the bar the bartender spots you as one of his kind, and Notices you have been travelling for quite some time. He asks a favor of you.
  • Most of the quests would be started in this fashion, as well as the above mention 'Key' phrases that unlock missions from certain NPC's
  • These quests would be attained from towns that have inhabitants of the same race as your character, OR from NPC's that have the same race as your character *If we cant make whole towns of every race.*
  • More often than not these quests would have medium to large gains seeing as its not a quest easily accessed *Seeing as you may have to FIND the quest NPC first* And would deal with the roleplaying aspect of the game in most parts. For example: You are a dwarven Fighter, and you stroll into the arilin hunters tavern, and a dwarven cleric seems to be sitting there, he asks you to go to the nearby underground barracks to save his son from the evil forces there. They would be basically heavily story driven quests.

 
Level Based Quests:
 
These quests are different In only one way from the other quests, They are based on your level *SURPRISE!*
 
These quests would be handed out at your guild ONLY when you reach a certain level, for example:
 
You head to the thieves guild with your human thief, and you level up to level 10, upon clicking the buy training button the guildmaster there informs you that you have advanced far enough to recieve a special quest from him, he then gives you the details of the quests. Once again using the above mentioned 'key' words/phrases.
 
So uh.... Tell me whatcha think, anything that can be improved upon, etc etc.

You would get rewards... Not brand new items and weapons that have just been introduced into the game but probably something your char could equip etc etc.
 
Those idea were written in the spirit that only the very high ended quests would have new items, etc.
 
But Its still only an Idea until JLH or pandilex says 'noted' or something along those lines Smiley

way to go bean, you just expanded on one of my many ambitious master plan ideas that are more work than this game is apparently viewed as being worth doing by anyone capable of doing work.
