Logging off

Ok as I was walking down the street daydreaming I had a brainstorm.  To prevent thoughs cheap a$$ people who log off whenever someone comes on the square, make it so it takes 5 seconds.

Ex.

Disconnecting in 5 seconds
Disconnecting in 4 seconds
Disconnecting in 3 seconds
Disconnecting in 2 seconds
Disconnecting in 1 second

Then it would just log you off. Well thats basically it.  Smiley

Peace

In 5 seconds? No, you could still move and stuff while the countdown is going.

genius.    This would make a whole lot more sense than people logging the second they get scared.  I think you should have to type /quit or even when u click the x it should count down from 5 or maybe even 10, and if you move, the log off is canceled.  Using the excuse "what if a monster is beating you down" makes no sense. the point of this would be to prevent people logging the second they're worried about dying...  i vote for this to be put in. i've seen it in other games and its a great idea.

I don't like this idea, because many times I've had to go afk while out training.  I would log off, so my crits don't die.  Five seconds is plenty of time to get killed by monsters in the desert and many other places.  Plus, there are ways around it anyway (ctrl+alt+delete).  Unless you want it set up to where even if they close out of nightmist thier crits are still online.  That would cause a crap load of problems.

I agree with Spekkio, its not feasible..becuase by the sounds of it you would have to wait 5 seconds if you just want to log off even if your not avoiding death.

I like the idea. About the monsters killing you in 5 seconds...who logs off while on a square with a monster? Some might but most prob dont.

Oh come on seriously....

Just because you cant pk someone because they log off doesnt mean this should be changed, pking is NOT the main goal of the game, and I dont see why you all feel the need to see this game that way...

Sure being better than the other guy is cool, and there are other ways to be better than pking... Lots of other ways...

I dont think this idea should be implemented simply because it is based so that pkers can get their 'fair kills' I say if you dont kill em fast enough and they get the time to log off your not doin your job right...

This was brought up a long time ago, and it was decided that the very real possibility of real life issues demanding a quick exit didn't justify the possibility of someone taking advantage (or being forced to let a monster get 5 seconds of shots on you).

I agree this is stupid. Dude if you cant get someone dead before they hit the x out then you lost the kill.. Cry me a d**n river. Next i dont log when getting pked I stand and try to fight as best i can and untill now my connection wasnt fast enough to truly fight back.. But at the same time if someone logs off to keep you from killing them that is their right.

Pking is not the way everyone plays this game, and so they should not be made to bend to the will of a few loosers who are bored and to lazy to find another game to play.

This is in no way at all "just for pkers to get a kill".  I think having to wait atleast 5 seconds would add an extra bit of "reality" to the game... being able to disappear the second u want to just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  Wether it be you're being attacked by monsters, pkers or even just sitting in town you should have to take a few seconds to set up camp or whatever we do when we dissapear from the realm of nightmist.

I cant beleive im seeing this, the PK'ers whinning because some people are smart enought to log thier crits instead of letting you kill them.  OMFG  As if pkers already dont control most aspects of the game.  You people are pathetic!!!.  And before you sit there and say that i am one of those that log off(or whatever other excuse you can come up with), for a long time i was a pker and if they could get logged off before i killed them 'oh well' they have to log on sometime, and I was good enough to chase em down or patient(SP?) enough to wait for the right time to strike them.

Are you joking? smart enough to log?? that destroys the whole aspect of living in the world of nightmist and either running or fighting off pkers, if thats your problem. (i dont see why people think the only reasoning behind this is to be able to pk...)  this would add more role playing/reality to the game by not being able to disappear the second you see trouble or decide to leave.
