I was doing a bit of research on FFXI (Woot! FFXI! XD) and noticed the Exp. Chain system they have.

Basically, when a person kills a monster they get the Exp. for landing hits and the bonus Exp. for killing it. If they kill another monster in a set amount of time that has the same name as the first monster killed, they not only receive the Exp. for fighting it but they get an extra amount of Exp.

If said player continues to kill the same monster over and over again (within a set time limit between each kill), they continue the "Exp. Chain" and get an extra amount of Exp.

I'm not sure if this is too confusing to understand but if it is, go ahead and post any questions and/or suggestions. ^^;;

I don't see any reason for that, logical or otherwise...

I kinbda get why they do it. But wouldn't it make more sense that you gain a hitting bonus vs that monster.. As after all, you'd start to pick up on their weaknesses.

Something like that would make sense actually. The more kills a crit has on a specific monster, the more he'll hit that specific monster for...

Although, it'd probably screw up the "balance" and make the game too easy after a while if people ran around clicking sand spiders.

Not if you had to kill the monster within 30seconds of eachother. To a max advantage of like 10% extra damage and 10% more chance the monster would miss.
After like 10 kills of it, it could stay for 5minutes or something..

It'd make training in some areas much easier. And it'd make it easier for low level crits too.

You may be able to fight the monster with more ease, but it wouldn't help you gain any worldly experience. I'd think fighting a massive variety of monsters would greatly increase a person's experience.

Beating up the same monster over and over again should give less xp, cuz there's nothing to learn from it anymore...

I agree with that also - and this game needs it (less exp. for increments of same creature kills)
