ok i just had this idea duuno if some one has already said this but what if i differentplaces around the map you could find different types of ore/skins that could me made into certain items there could be different types of ore that would be harder to find and such and the skins could be obtained from killing monsters eg the bunny and gettting enough furs to make a coat and in the development section newb said he was making a balsik area which if you found the sheded skins you could make some armor or some thing
When you actully go to have the ore/skin processed or whatever depending on the type of ore/skin you would have a better/worse chance of getting a good item

lol I find this suggestion a little amusing as I've just recently got back into playing Might and Magic 7, where when you find certain laced ores you take them to Erathia and theres three houses where you can take the ores to be made into either items,weapons, or armor, but the quality of the end result depends on the persons luck. It's a decent idea.
