My justification for them to be Clerics is because not all dark-elves are bad. That is the stereotype of them. I forget what the name of the books are, but the ones with Drizzt Do'urden. That should be proof enough of my point.

Well, from my perspective, Gnomes are sucky thieves to begin with. But yes, I see your point. Dwarves do have the extra 3 con and 1 str, so in some aspects it does make up for the slightly higher dex. Perhaps some tweaking would do the trick.

Stat totals are 4 less than Human so its also more than fair in that aspect.

Stronger perhaps, but I've never heard of them being faster, and they have always been just as intelligent, don't mistake barbarity for intelligence, they just use thier talents for less wholesome ideals.
Plus they've been in the game before. No need for them.

No, they were not. There were barberians and the berserk was just a stronger assassinate. It was all they had and couldn't wear shields.

Gnomes have the advantage of their higher wis and natural ability to resist spells, which makes Gnome thieves excellent mage killers. I don't see mages around much and I would prefer the higher strength on a thief. I was just basing the stats on what I think a Dark-Elf would have, not basing them on what I want a Dark-Elf to have.
