Your own shop

A thought which popped into my head a minute ago. I dont know whether this has been discussed before, but either way, ill tell you all about it. Now, in the game, a player could perchase his/her own store. The player simply sells items they already have, for a price of their own choice. I know that the site does this, but i thought maybe if player shops were introduced into the game, it would be a nice way to role-play a merchant. Its a very exiting idea, and it would be nice to able to make a living by doing something constructive, and realistic (in medieval times), instead of killing the same old rats over and over again. It would give players a chance to live the life of nightmist, and not just play it. now. ill suggest how the shop could be worked in more detail..... Buildings should be scattered about the town, an example...the empty building on resthaven. A player finds these buildings, and perchases them for a nice.. say 80k for now...The empty building then converts into a shop. An NPC (which you should be able to name, otherwise just make it so its automatically called Shopkeeper), will be your shop keeper. You can add things to the shop, and take things from the shop, so long as you are the shop keeper. to anybody else, it will be like a normal shop, but with the players items which they have added. I think you should be able to Name the shop yourself too. now, after about an hour or so, the player can go back to the shop, and see how much daily profit they have made. then they can collect the gold freely, and store it into their bank. I suppose to make it even more realistic, you could make it so u can have a partnership, where 2 players may own the shop, or you can set up franchises (where u gain 25% of other peoples profits who are your franchisees, although u must suply the goods to them), and many other ways. Also, you should be able to expand your business, at first, only allow the player to add 5 items to the shop, if they want to expand, the player should pay about 5k for 2 slots. If a player wants to sell a shop, they can either sell it to another player for 3/4 of the original price or less (because obviously another player isnt going to pay full price for a shop, when they can quite easily make their own and make up their own name), or delete the shop (after taking out all the items), and gain only 1/2 the price they paid for it.

It's a nice idea, but i'm sure you have seen the size of clan town, and thats just for clans. Imagine if everyone owned a shop, there would be too many to even bother looking through them all.

Excellent idea... if the shps were very expensive to not only obtain, but to keep up. Kindof like a rent. It's an idea to work on.

| If it were expensive to obtain, then you probably wouldn't make a profit out of it. Unless it was cheap to run, people wouldnt bother, mainly due to the fact that you can trade for free on the website. It's a nice idea, but there is already a perfectly fine trading system set up on the website.

but thats what im saying, instead of going through the whole website thing, this will encourage a bit of role-play maybe, and its more exiting than doing it from the website. living nightmist instead of just playing it sounds better to me. and about the space, you wont be able to add buildings, but look for empty ones created by staff instead, so it limits the amount of player shops. if all the empty buildings have been taken, then i guess thats just tough if you want to own a shop lol. i suppose the next area could be a market town next to Blackthorn, with tons of buildings available to perchase.

Great idea! Maybe they can make a place called market town that is off of dendeya cause then there wouldnt be as many shops, only as many as the people that can go there. once again good idea

Once again another idea that has been suggested in the past, and is highly unconventional, and has no great purpose other than to clutter our ever expanding list of commands. If nothing else, you could make use of that useless piece of junk in Nightmist you call Market Square, and add in a command like /stall or /trading which lets people see everything that is in your inventory, which may then be sold, naturally this command could only be used in market square. I would also suggest only one stall per square.

I like the idea Deval had...there is quite a fewempty squares in the market place that cold be put to use for trading and such. Although we already have the forums....and trading section on the site fo buying selling and trading. *shrug* And I don't think there was a problem with merchent rping...it would be something different I suppose.

Its a very good idea. I think Market Square (Nightmist) is pretty useless and it would be a nice idea for Harabec when it opens. *looks at Stotic*

i just though that if something new was brough into the game, it would make the game more than just killing monsters, and gaining items, and leveling up. Perhaps you could gain experience by selling things in a shop. perhaps there could be a rule that if you arnt selling enough things, and gaining enough profit to pay your 'clan' house bills, or taxes, then you will go out of business.

The only thing you would become more skilled in, is trading, not becoming more powerful. For that to happen you'd have to put in a trading skill, which you could 'level up' in.

well, ill keep working on the idea, until JLH gives me a definate no, if he says work on it, i will, if he says its in, its in, and there is nothing more to talk about. i know people will have there difference of opinions, but once the system is installed into the game, people will find it useful, and fun to use.

i agree on the fact that if each player could have a shop it wouldn't be too successful as no1 wants to take all their time lookin through every persons shop to find they dont want nethin, maybe if we could make it some how so fewer people have shops but make it cheap enough to make a profit. How about having a clan shop which is avalible to the general public. When you clan reaches a certain score or rank then you could be entitled to have a clan shop where clan members could put there things on to be sold like the site.
