stealing gold

gah i'm trianing in desert again with all sandspiders having like 40 gold on em Sad this is getting annoying. i suggest someone thinks of a good idea so thieves can still steal gold of monsters without other players having any problems after that.

all i can think of is making steal, steal everything and then just make a copy of the gold so it stays on a monster but then you would get alot of money really fast with a thief so i can't really figure this out.

all i know is that it's really annoying me!

I know I was thinking about this this the other night. I need all the gold from the spiders to support the mage I'm training. So whenever you kill about 15 spiders each only dropping 19-40 gold it makes it difficult. I also thought about the idea of the spiders not actually losing the gold but since they wouldn't ever run out the thief could just sit there.. so I just figured "oh well. s**t happens."

I'm sure you've done exactly the same thing. It should be left they way it is, or there would be not point in a thief, and they would become assassins.

Easy enough go deeper into the desert where thieves dont usually go because they just wants quick cash.

Same thing happens at Racks, Museum etc. so deal with it. All you need but do is kill the monsters and when they respawn 'Hey Presto' they have gold.

A blast of energy emanates from you, injuring a Sand Spider for 44 points of damage, Killing it.
You got 12 gold pieces.
Sand Spider: mipppppp

* Rattlesnake sighs

Even though that sucks I think it should be left the way it is because there's no way to make it anymore 'fair' than it is.

actually since it really doesn't take that long for sand spiders to respawn you might just want to kill the same ones over and over again if you really need that gold.

or you can just systematically clear everything in the desert and gripe the whole time; meanwhile another thief is doing the same thing 5 minutes behind you. your call i guess.

I was thinking the same thing while I was training in the desert, and it reminded me of something someone said. That the gold on the monsters is like a sum of what you can sell the parts for or something like that, so instead of making monsters drop like body parts to sell, they just drop gold instead. Even tho monsters dropping gold doesnt make sense.

With this in mind I thought.. Well hey come on not like thieves can steal body parts right? Then why should they be able to steal the reward that is supposed to be the product of those body parts?

Where am I going with this you ask? Well following the train of thought that I had, I came up with making 'Steal Gold' a PvP skill only, or only on humanoid monsters (which I know would take another monster stat to say which monsters can and cannot be stolen from). Which makes alot more sense then sand spiders carrying around change purses.

* Eternyte wanders around looking for a rich victims flashing money

* Eternyte finds a victim, sneaks up and noticed they have 1000 on them

* Eternyte is a nice thief and only take 500, then returns the money back to the victim with a letter of gratitude.

Dont be so flipping stupid. A thief would take al if anything, not leave anything behind.

Leave it the way it is but how about something new added to when a monster dies..

Like a bunny you get its fur, useless to do, but useing it as an example..
So if you killed a bear you would get its fur be higher value fur then that of a bunny..
Birds, you get their claws and feathers..
Etc etc...

Now people will say, they wont have enough room to carry this stuff, but however if your training your eventually going to use some of those crystals and pots, so you would have room..

Once out of mana and inventory full of monster stuff to sell, your set.. So thief steals all spiders gold, but you kill it and get its part which could be sold for 100-200 gold..

Amount it can be sold for, could equal half or less of the amount of gold it has on it.. Sand Spiders have 500 gold.. So their part would sell around 250..

And as for people not picking up and making trash everywhere..
Poor Little Newbs be able to run threw and pick stuff up to sell.
Also, a time limit could be set if the item sits on the ground for a certain amount of time it gets deleted..

Not anything new considering more then half of role playing games doing something like this, but it would add more depth to the game..

I've ran into the problem a few times myself. Only diffrence is I didn`t concider it to be that much of a problem. You kill the monsters gaining great exp. Then on your way back out of the desert your rewarded for all your hard work with large amounts of gold for killing the monsters and still gaining great exp. Thieves are just that. They steal gold, hide in covert and assassinate when you least exspect it.
Not every thief in the game can hit the desert and steal gold. Most won`t make it past the first sand spider without being spotted and bitten to death. And since the monsters now chase you they have made it even harder to shake em in an attempt to find a empty square and go covert again. So even though the rewards for a thief are great the dangers are still there. A good example is that I took Galapagos to the desert with 12 pots some food and water and a plan to get it all. My greed got the best of me and with 28K in had and deep in the south of the desert I was spotted. I tried everything to shake em. Moving east...west...east...west and nothing. They where on me like white on rice. I was sucken down pots faster then I could move from square to sqaure. Then BAM!!! I was in my local with a slab of Roast Beef and 1.6 mil less in EXP. And some lucky fool killed and sand spider and got a nice 28K chunk of change. So even though you might not of got your pot of gold at each stop you'll find that in some cases that the pot isn`t always empty. In some cases it is atleast 28K full....

tell me if i don't get this correct but aren't you just say'n they should drop an item worth half of the cash monsters have so that if you do get a decent kill you get 1.5 times the regular amount of money?
