Enhancing of Weapons.

This would help a lot to make people crits more unique.
This is just and idea, lot could be change or added to this.
Here goes.
Different types of gems can be used to put in weapons to enhance them.
Each Gem doing different things..
Each Weapon can have 1-3 gems enhance it.
Now, certain Gems, would equal more then 1 slot on a weapon.
Example-Gem of The Gods-makes weapons magical takes up all 3 spots. Other words, no other gems would be allow to be enhance into the sword. And the weapon has to allow 3 gems for it to be put in. Sword with 1 slot can't use that gem..
Now, to stop people from killing and killing bosses to get these gems, have a limit to how many there are in the game.
The gem of the gods make it where theres only 3 in the whole game.
Lower the Gem does, the more there could be of it..
Gems can also Break over periods of time, or lose some of its propertys. When the lost of propertys gems name changes to Damage, weak, or whatever u want to put infront of the gem.
How To Find Gems.
(Just Examples)
1. Running along Gnoll Fortess, you go east where there shouldn't be an east, and a Gem is laying on the ground..
Another person walks to the intersection below arilin and theres just a gem laying there.
2. Random Popup of bosses, Boss could just be standing around in Triken Forest near cg, and people run by and run into it. They kill it and get the gem, then the boss could reappear other places till the gem it drops has reach the max it is allowed in the game.
3. Some Gems that can be drop unlimited ammounts(not anything special to add to people enhancement) Can just be 24 hr spawn.
4. /Examine in random places
5. /read a scroll and a magic gems appears.
6. Quests
7. Exploreing and Exploreing and more Exploreing.
List of Example Gems and what they do.
Name/Amount In Game/What it does/Spaces it takes
Note, I'm only telling space when it takes up more then 1 space.
Gem Of the Gods(3) Makes Weapons Magical 3 Spaces
Green Gem(unlimited) 5 hp and 5 extra mana.
Earth Gem(50+) Adds 5 extra damage per round.
Water Gem(50+) Adds 10 exta damage to fire base monsters/bosses.
Experiance Gem(Up to JLH) Gives you 1-5% Extra exp.(up to JLH)
Shadow(10) Drains life from monsters, Chance to work 1%. Amount of life is equal to damage done.
Fire Gem(50+) Opposite of the water gem.
HP Gem(?) Adds certain amount of life to the player
Small HP Gem(unlimited)10+ max life..
Gem Of Strength(1) Adds 1 to str.
Gem Of Intelligence(1) Adds 1 to Intell.
Gem Of Dex(1) adds dex.
Gem Of con(1) adds con.
Gem of Wis(1) adds wis.
Gem of Char(3) Adds Char.
Gem of Power(1) Adds 2 str and 5 damage 3 spaces.
Theas Gem(1) Adds 1 to char and 1 to intell. 2 spaces.
Gem of lag(1) Adds 200 damage to lag monster. 3 spaces
Gem Of The Demons(1) Does Extra damage to Holy people(cleircs, paladins) or monsters/bosses. 3 spaces.
Gem Of The AngelsDoes the opposite 3 spaces
Holy Gem(20) Does Extra damage to demonic monsters/bosses 2 spaces
Ok, thats enough gems, some of them look stupid I know, but I did that to show the difference of just what the gems can have.
And there can be tons and tons more gems, each doing a number of different things Such as.
Adding armor, damage, damage against certain monsters, stats, muti stats, hp, mana, leech, mana leech, lower costs of mana for spells, % damage done is efflicted on attacker.
Permently cures hunger and or thirst.
Also gems that does poison dmg, one that protect against poison damage. And many many more.
This would make a lot of people stand out more, reason, because of the limit supply of certain gems.

Hmm, never knew, I got the general idea from Diablo 2 with their ways of doing things to items, But I changed it a lot to fit NM needs and not exactly copy. I only played dransilk for like 10 mins and quit because it was stupid.
So i have no idea that was in dran, even if it is, doubt its to the full content of what I said, besides a lot of games has something like this in it.

Also, powerfull gems can one day break and not be usefull, so that high lv crit spent 10mill gold on a gem that had bad luck and broke.
Breaking or loseing power would be put into each gem randomly. So, say one gem has 5% chance break over time, another of the same gem has 0% chance to break over time.
Then 3rd gem of the same, will break after 5k in hits.

my thoughts. also it seems like some of these things only serve a purpose for a couple people in the game.

Actually, quite interesting. In chem class I saw a video where a diamond disintegrated in a matter of minutes. Cool stuff.

I have never heard of dransik/RoK/diety and whatever other obscure games some people here play, but the idea of improving swords with 'slots' to put improvements seems a blatent rip off of a very popular game that most people must have heard of..

How about a RARE scroll that every class can use, there can only be one(1) at once for someone.
I don't think there should be a limit.
Random /examine or dead end (I though that was good idea) should tp you to a room with a scroll. You can either stay in the room and exit it (which would take you to your local), or you could get it, which would tp you to a room with no exits, then if you used the scroll, you would get a spell, called 'bless item' You could use this once per week on a weapon, and it would have increased base damage or be vamparic or something, random. If the item was given away to someone that was NOT in the account the weapon started in from, it loses its blessing.
