Relams of Kaos

Why does it seems that every time a new idea is suggested, everyone says "This was stolen from RoK, its not origional!" This is ludicrous. When did Realsm of Kaos turn into the template for all RPGs. There are thousands of RPGs, and none of them have completely unique aspects. Every part of your game will be part of 80% of all other games. Its how you combine tham that makes your game unique. No ideas are origional, so lets have discussions based on maerits, not copycating.

Actually I never heard someone say that the things brought into Nightmist were stolen from RoK. A lot of old RoK players came to Nightmist and stuck to playing this instead. This game is similar to it, yes, but.. who cares..?! I prefer to play this over RoK anyday..

Someone else said that the class name 'Rogue' was stolen from RoK, not me. I was just saying that as RoK did not make up the class name Rogue, it wouldn't matter if nightmist used it or not. on 03/14/03 at 12:39:09, Norinth wrote:| That sounds a bit like RoK... |

rok and all muds are built on standards made first in paper games, and then in single player text games starting in the early 80's and even late 70's. then thos games barrow alot from a wide variety of influences ranging from midevil and renaisance history, mythologies of various cultures, and anything else they can get thier hands on.

After I got bored of Nightmist for the 10th time or so, I played RoK for... two weeks ( )... It can't even be compared to Nightmist... In Nightmist people are much more friendly, in RoK they seem like a bunch of robots that are being payed to play the game... I read a few D&D manuals recently ( ), there are some useful info on them about almost every class. D&D was (in my opinion) ThE (!) RPG. That's how "it all begun", not RoK. This sounds a bit like RoK
