How about players get to hold a citizenship in a town.  This would boost town orientated quests and is just logical in general.  Houses could be available in the town your a citizen of.  One could simply become a citizen by visiting a town's Town Hall etc.  What ya think?

Good idea...I would be a citizen of Nightmist...all together that would promote a sense of townsmanship and could lead to town-to-town markets and a real world feel... Smiley

Seems only logically since we all have a place that we usually reside.

Blackthorne baby here I come! I like this idea, I'd love to reside in the town that the majority of my first crits grew up in, have a nice little house where we could all live happily ever after and maybe you could share a house with a friend or loved one? and have the house password protected that only the owner of the house can change.

ok but what's the use of it? you can say i'm a citizen of nightmist? really usefull i think jlh could better program other more usefull things first before he makes something like this Tongue

this is just a nice extra while the game needs a lot of other things that are more important for play'n Tongue

A simple way to put this in is just simply add to your Character description, he is a citizen of whatever using data from /local (Of course clan taverns would muck this up but could be made Clan town or Nightmist)

It would have to be a separate button considering some people make their locals in clan houses and Nightmist has two taverns.

This idea was suggested by me as a part of a massive system of government over a year ago. Pandilex said he was gonna use my system on Opal Spheres...riiiiight.

Anyway, citizenship could have many benefits. Yow could get cheaper prices on stores in that city, say 5%. Also, it would put us one-step closer to race-based cities, like an elvish city in the trees or the dwarven cities in the mines.

Also, without getting too much into the governmental aspects, this would be a great predicate for war. The idea of one city attacking another city, trying to become an imperial superpower over all of nightmist, is quite inticing to me. Also, much like an alignment system is going to be implemented for players (hopefully), this would enable measurements on cities for their alignments. Combining your citizenship with how well you match up with the alignment of the city would have a role in the markets and maybe even law enforcement.

As you can see, many ideas can come from this. Just be creative.

ok here's an idea :d you could give some diff benefits depending on the citie you join. like if you join arilin you get a little more hp and when you join sarka you get a little more chance to hit or something. maybe make it that when you join a city you get a little more exp or armor.

just a thought Cheesy

btw it should be that if you join a city you can't change it anymore so you got to deice wisely what your gonna do Cheesy

I just suggested the citizenship for rp purposes.  I'm aware the government etc. have been suggested and suggesting at them at this point would be pointless.  It's just too large of an idea.  And Bishop...you can live in a city and be part of an organization (clan).

Why the hell would you do that? How does being a citizen of a city boost your abilities? Thats just spastic. This started as a good idea, but has now fallen into downward spiral of utter stupidity.

I agree w/Deval. Being a citizen of a town doesn't give you any special abililties unless the town happens to be located on top of a toxic waste dump site then maybe you could get superpowers.   Roll Eyes
