I just wana say its nice how many chrts I'v sold with out staff trade for those of you who seen my chrt for sale post all but two are sold and I belive not a 1 with staff being there...
how it usuly happens is we serch for some one we both know and trust and have them trade or find some one a friend I trust recomends that the other person knows... just sold 1 for 300k so I'm happy about this

I think the idea of using someone who is trusted by both players to do the trade is good. I know Sera played middleman before, holding on to crits/items/gold and there are a few more trustworthy players in the game who I would use as a "trader" should I ever be in the situation where no staff can be found.
I've traded without staff a few times, but always was given the items first, Alliedassault and James being two of them, and I know neither would rip me off.

I've done this several times actually. Before I even agree to help, I make sure both parties are aware that I am NOT staff nor have I ever been and that if they SOMEHOW get ripped... I cant get it back for them. The biggest trade I did was for a CSotW. I had about 15 mil in items in my inventory during that trade... *lol* People come to me cause they know they can trust me. I have never, and will never steal what is not mine. I've even had one person tell me they just get ahold of me for trades anymore cause they can't seem to catch staff online to help...
I too, have people I would do trades with without a second thought about it. I know I can trust them... especially my clannies.

Same here. I'm not trying to ruin the game even more by being another known thief. I don't tolerate thieves myself.. so, of course I wouldn't steal anything that wasn't mine.

I've been ripped off twice in trades recently but the set backs it causes drives my need to acomplish things in game.
Although I do like the idea of the middle man. I think we may need a staff "Trade Master" or something of the like who only deals in trades and has ALOT of game time.
Just my thoughts

I get called on on occasion too. Sometimes I get pages from random people asking me to be the middle man since I used to be staff. Just like Sera though, I have a disclaimer that I can't do anything to prove it if something goes wrong. It seems to normally go over well. Theres always an occasional player who wants -staff only- to monitor their trade so the other party is forced to wait, but I'm always willing to help someone if I'm in the area.

i do about 80% of my trades without staff... but i have this charm i guess to coax ppl into giving their end of the deal to me first.. and it works lol.. although i have had to work less and less on convincing ppl to give me their part of the trade first as Ive gained more popularity in the nightmist trading community. I bought a cobalt without staff lol.. and i got the cobalt in my hands first.. from tevlok.
im not a thief  (in that sense)
so feel good about trading with me... or whatever..
