Umm..pandi said it was altered, but his post is locked...did it get altered to do less damage..cost more mana..more/less fizzles...what happend to it? (i know only Milagros has it, but i figured maybe pandilex might share, or cupcake might enlighten us)

the damage it deals has been reduced. Before i could hit a lvl 30 character with 18 wisdom for mid to high 70s, now the same character i can only hit for mid to high 60's. The mana cost is still the same(25), however i have asked panilex to look into reducing the cost. It still fizzles and is resisted just the same...way to freaking much.

It seems to me that it was reduced even more....tested it against several classes/races tonight and it only does 10 more than beam for 8 more mana...i was being resisted by dwarfs 4 out of 5 times on average 3-4 times throughout a duel. Although the fizzle rate seems to have been lowered to me, the resistance has been drastically raised. I could almost never get a full 5 rounds without it being resisted at least once, normally twice. Anyone interested in buying milagros let me know...not worth nuts. Glory days are over.

Devastate is supposed to be a very powerful spell, thus the name. It is meant to be a devastating force. It is supposed to do just what it's name says. Otherwise why not just name it "Slightly Better Than Beam". I also believe the mana cost is WAY too high now for what little damage it does. The high mana cost was offset by the damage it did. Now it seems a worthless spell for the cost in mana. I REALLY hope the damage gets raised back up. Maybe then, mages will be feared again, as the were when I first started. Now you rarely see one.
I remember when I had a fighter with 8 wis and would get hit by Devastate. No resists there *lol* and each Devastate would hit for well over 100. That, my friends, is fear.

Well from what i hear devestate is going to be open to other people "soonish" which is prolly why the damage was taken down, I mean do you really want to be going around then hit by a party of 4 invis mages that all have devestate and hit for 80+...i think not....so one of 2 things need to happen...either lower the mana cost and keep the dmg the way it is or raise the dmg alittle more....

Devestate should not be as good as it was if its being made public. Seems 10 more damage than beam would be ok, but maybe the mana cost needs lowering slightly more.

I do not attack you for things you say on here. Nor do I laugh at you. I didn't ask for your opinon on the crit, so kindly keep it to yourself. I was given that crit when I started playing NM and didn't know any better. Btw, I got that crit to arch and sold her. She still exists in game with a new name.

bean, you bring up a good point. I agree others should be able to get devastate, but not as a boss drop. Perhaps a monthly quest such as when inquisitors ring was given out, somethin that wont release it into the game so quickly, but yet over time allows more players to get it.
