Here is just merely a suggestion. I have read a lot of posts recently about people worried about being ripped off. Staff are believed and well renound for being trusted people to do the trade through. These people are hand picked by Jlh and Pandilex am i right? why not extend the arm of trust out to a further say 5 people whos main charcter has a high time spent score on the rankings to be trusted as "Security" the only special ability they have would be trust and maybe a seperate colour to depict that they have been proven to be trusted and able to watch Trades. I can name a great number of people who i could nominate for this role and people who i would trust greatly. A seperate account for trades can be set up per person of which people transfer the character to which can be monitored by staff, thus to stop any foul play occuring. Items etc can eb passed to security first to vouch that the user has the item and gold can be distributed to them also and traded accordingly. I personally witnessed a trade as the two people involved trusted me and i believe that there would be a lot more trades could occur.
If i was setting guidelines (and remember im just making my opinion and not trying to rule the roost) i would set
1. over 18 (proof to be obtained if possible)
2. Well respected and renouned for trust (Maybe elected by the members)
3. Regular gaming times of a couple of hours a day or at least 8 hours a week.
4. Available at major busy times such as friday and saturday nights (GMT) and a representative for all time zones so that both US, UK, Europe, Oceania, Asia, Africa (maybe) and far east are covered.
5. Main thing is trusted and respected by the Staff
Just an idea it may cause people getting a big head but im sure enough low ego minded people can be found who would see it as an honour and not a power trip. It will not cause issues of power abuse as all trades of that account can be monitored for integrity assuming people make a complaint (If a trade is not carried out succesfully) If found to be abusing the trust they would possibly be fired on the spot? banned? make it a zero tollerence role to make all those who gain this role squeeky clean.

Yep, we suggested that several times and it's always been turned down, unfortunately. But who knows, if people keep asking for it, maybe Pandilex and JLH will change their minds about it.
